I’m well aware of the games Tabata directed. It was a rhetorical question. Those two games were nothing to write home about. And in regards to your opinion on Nomura, to each his own. There’s been games where he was the director and they turned out as masterpieces, and others that were lackluster (KH III). In my opinion, tech and mismanagement of resources by SE is what doomed Versus XIII, not one man

@legols

You sound foolish, as you know absolutely “nothing” other than speculation regarding Tabata and what transpires internally over at SE. Also, what exactly his Tabata accomplished during his time at SE?

And regardless of differing opinion, I will proudly stay true to my opinion in that the new direction of where Nomura & the writers are taking the story. is exciting and mysterious. And I look forward to seeing where it goes. You can call it co...

My mistake everyone, I meant to say “
Cloud’s “Counterstance” ability in Punisher mode. Not Gotterdammerung, which is his limit break. Both are satisfying, but counterstance is pure nostalgic bliss every time it’s pulled off

Anyone else notice how the combat in this looks similar to using “Gotterdammerung“ in FFVII Remake. Which was super satisfying and if the entire game is going to feel that way in combat we’re in for a real treat

They need to implement these into a nee version of PS Home!

For Playstation there is. And then come holiday 2022 I think should be a solid time for the XSX if Fable and Avowed can be out by then

Yes forsure, Most Wanted was the other that applies as well. What put NFS on the map

Playing Criterion’s NFS: Hot Pursuit back in the day was pure bliss. Remember always playing it in between GTA releases

Lol they were “outbid” because they allowed it. Their execs had a figure in mind based on analytics and figures that I doubt you’re familiar with, and once the number was higher than the threshold they decided, it wasn’t worth continuing to bid. If you haven’t noticed Sony looks at undervalued sales (I can’t name a single recent acquisition where Sony actually spent more than market value)

Curious how you decided to do zero research while maintaining a really firm and bold claim regarding a companies’ financial capabilities, with said company being publicly traded (therefore being required by law to report their financials quarterly) and having around 33~ billion in cash on hand.

While it would be difficult for the CFO and CEO of Sony to convince the Board to spend around 4 billion (roughly 13% of the entirety of their cash on hand) on an acquisition that cur...

Think you should reread my comment. Because the last time you read it you did it wrong

Might be worth a double dip if they invested in a unique achievement system. Nothing wrong with adding fun incentives for players

Yea I was part of the focus group in California that Capcom held for Resident Evil this past year, and let me tell you we ALL let em have it in regards to Ethan. REVIII was already much too far in development, but I think it’s safe to say that we won’t be hearing from Ethan for quite a few entries after this lol.

They should have actually did Platinum and CyGames at the same time and utilized each other’s talent/strengths similar to how development went with Granblue Fantasy Relink. The Granblue IP would allow for Sony to have a mobile presence (which they have failed to gain traction on for years) and also permit for them to have a flagship RPG franchise that can potentially compete with Final Fantasy

Hmm, I do consider that “near” in the grand scheme of things. I also consider it near the time of video game relevance becoming main stream with 3D leading the way. So one could consider the Odyssey being in the time of the “prologue” and the SNES and PSOne being the “beginning.” Even though they weren’t the first to implement 3D graphics they were the two consoles that paved the way of the future.

1. Did you just source wikipedia for your reference?

2. You can call it an RPG all you like. When compared to traditional RPG’s, it is clear as day that it doesn’t hold a candle to them. Assassin’s Creed is more of an RPG now than HZD is. You can technically call anything nowadays an RPG that has an open world and if the character levels up.

I’m a gamer, I do not pick console sides nor am I saying Xbox is better than Playstation. I only have a PS5 preordered and won’t get the Series X until 2022 when all the 1st party RPG studios release their games. I am stating my displeasure with Sony’s lack of investment in 1st party RPG studios. Nothing more

You good sir, just had the statement of the day. You are correct.

If you pay attention to how Sony operates, they are a “business” first and foremost. S. Yoshida admitted that the development cost of Rogue Galaxy was not only double the cost of other 1st/2nd party games they were developing at the time (all non-RPG’s), but it also sold far less. The issue with this logic is that you could blame that on a number of things. For instance, the game was marketed horribly - you c...

@apocalypse

Yea at some point it all becomes repetitive? The difference is the length/depth of the cycle. The cycle of gameplay systems in RPG’s is significantly longer than that of action/adventure games. RPG devs provide an abundance of non-mandatory gameplay systems to appease the mind.

Look at Cyberpunk. Literally every single thing you do in the game has programming coded into the game to allow for “progress” of some sort. If a player gets bored of ...

Yes my mistake that was written horribly. RPG’s. Whether it be JRPG’s and/or WRPG’s.

Sony should be embarrassed. Sick and tired of doing the same things in all their action/adventure games - Uncharted, Days Gone, Last of Us, Horizon ZD, Spider-man, etc:

Find ammunition
Pick up said ammunition
Reload weapon
Kill badguys
Find collectibles
Upgrade minimalistic skill trees that only progress combat related exchan...
