I was straight addicted to Socom back when the first two were out. Those games had me and my buddies playing Socom 2 after work from like 11 pm until 6-7am. I have never played a game as much as I did Socom 2. I would hate to think of the amount of hours I spent playing that game.
There was a routine. Work.Women.Bars.Socom. Nothing like getting drunk, getting laid, and hitting the buttersticks rooms in US Central. Damn, I miss that game.

totally agree. which is why I am not down with digital only media. we still get ripped off when they find ways to cut costs. I remember when games actually had instruction manuals that would give you a story, characters, hints, and directions how to play.
Now you might get a piece of paper with an ad for another game. A 2 page manual with the label on the front, the seizure warning, a picture of the hud, and the developers credits.
Why not do both?
They put the file up on the server and bam they are done. Release a few hundred thousand or just sell it thru amazon for people like me who would prefer the disc so if at a later date I want to get rid of it, or let someone borrow it I can without having to give out my info.

WTF...The huge selling feature of this they kept talking about was the split screeen co op play and they only include 1 set of glasses. I sometimes wonder who in the hell makes the decisions around there sometimes. A 32 tv would be acceptable in a bedroom perhaps a small living room, the 26 inch is a computer monitor.
I think a lot more people would be coaxed into that deal if the tv was bigger. No way I can convince the wife into getting this to sample it, not at that p...
This thing looks like the same sort of tech that apple is getting ready to throw out with the ios 5. The content will be streaming from the handheld device to the tv though, it could make for a neat venture but I see Nintendo totally dumbing this down and making it into another Wii rather than the Super Nintendo of old.

which is what my wii is. a 30 minute time waster, when the friends come over and fire it up for a little bit until the novelty wears off. The worst gaming decision I have made in a long time was buying that wii after a night of drunken mario kart and wii sports. I havent turned it on since new years.

This will be the first dlc I will be getting for this game, hopefully they add more. I wouldnt mind seeing a bundle pack of the DC characters they had in the last game, doubt it will happen though with this title not being family friendly.
It would make a neat expansion pack, though it would kill sales of the game already on the market but I know several people would pick it up if the price was right.
No go with the Socom code, I dont know why you cant store those codes on the account after you enter them and when they go live the ps+ cant download them for you.

I bought the ps1/2/3 at launch and still have the original systems. The ps1 was left on for days at a time, on the carpet...probably covered with dirty clothes when I was a kid and still works to this day. The ps2 launch system was played for countless hours due to Socom, and was played until the launch of the ps3 60gb. Which I am still rocking on today, with a 500 gb hard drive being the only thing replaced on it due to me wanting more space for movies/games/music.

I forgot only evil sony forced consumers to disregard their old games when a new impoved system came out. Nintendo allowed full backwards compat with the SNES to keep customers buying NES games, and Sega allowed the dreamcast customers to use their mastersystem cards and genesis games to be used on their systems as well. /S

The single player, tower challenge is awesome. I just cant see spending anymore money on this game until I can actually play more than a single match online where the lag doesnt totally ruin the online for me.
If Amazon does the 20 dollar credit price or price match newegg I will bite. This is the only reason I would pick this game up. Right now I am at a loss for a shooter. With Socom 4 being anything but Socom, and KZ3 not meeting my needs I will look to Battlefield 3/Resistance3/Uncharted 3 and if the price is right Mod Warfare 3.
