It all comes down to who will support it. Like you said, it's good that the PS3 supported 7 controllers, but no one made use of that capability. Same idea with Microsoft.
I actually don't see how one could brag about it unless it serves some sort of purpose. It's like bragging that you own a Ferrari yet, you aren't allowed to drive it.
Also to add on, I don't see how some people can turn this into a negative thing. If it's an additional feature such as this, how can it be bad?

Well what country do you live in? I'm interested to see where it's actually cheaper buying a PS4, two games and, ps eye for a cheaper price than the Xbox bundle alone.
1) Kinect is bundled in unlike PS4.
2) Ditto with PS4.

You say that you want to save your power-bill, so this feature is a good thing. I agree with this, definitely a good thing. But, if you wanted to save as much power as you can, (Here comes the mega-bomb) wouldn't you just have rechargeable batteries? This way, all the power is going directly into the batteries without the console even being in a sleep or stand-by state.
