I hear you man. I'm down with simple and scary, but good horror is always about something deeper, never pure formula. The monster is an allegory and vehicle for social commentary.

Great examples: Babadook (mental illness), It Follows (How choices made in our youth will always slowly follow us), Night of the Living Dead (zombies = "silent majority", hence casting choice of black main character [late 60's societal oppression]). Countless examples.

I'm sure we all did. Realistically, I don't understand a person's motivation to cheat. What are they getting out of it and how does it make the game fun? Cheaters on this site, feel free to respond because I'd love to know

I think because my generation and after, the millenials, were raised to be entitled little whiners. We got trophies for participating in any organized sport, even if you havnt won a game. we act as though these companies owe us a debt just because we shelled out a measley $60 which when adjusted for inflation is a very low price compared to games of old. We cry on social media and forums and we get responses from other like minded individuals which through confirmation bias justifies and val...

I know, right?!? There's already WAY too many WW2 shooters on the current generation consoles. Man, it's like every other shooter released is a ww2 shooter... I mean come on, when technology advances, then maybe it'll be worth it, but for now I'm so sick of this more of the same nonsense!

I forgot to mention, I'm also a time traveler from the year 2005. I just learned Donald Trump may very well be the next president as well. Please, if you know how to go ...

Yeah. I'm looking for more of modern / near future shooter 57.5 too. Why change what hasn't changed in 10 years across just as many iterations? You're so right! Why in the hell should a company ever take a risk? They should know we all want the same game every year, spoon fed to us like the good little flock we are. /s

Modern crap is weak. WW1 or WW2 or bust. I'm not looking to buy the modern battlefield 3 for the third time. It's time for a monumental change. Or a multi faceted time period game, each map with its own weapons and Camo, etc, based on the period

If it's more of the same I can't see myself purchasing it. A WW2 setting would be my favorite personally

An M1903 Springfield inaccurate? That was the field issue weapon during the Great War and was used as a sniper rifle right into Vietnam. I personally have one passed down from my great grandfather. 30.06. It's one of the most accurate weapons I've ever fired in my life. You could have easily done a Google search before commenting that dribble

New CEO! Yeah I can see that making sense and I accept your logic. Do you know anything about him? Was he promoted internally - one of Kojima's former peers on the executive team?

This whole thing strikes me as a personal move over one that was strictly business. MGS has always been one of their cash cows whereas a lot of their other (console) games, those that rely on a predominately Asian audience, are more like the dogs of the company. The buzz from PT and Silent Hill...

This is the only side of the story we're hearing. There's more to it. Interpersonal conflicts within the organization, I'm sure Kojima's ego was massive, and realistically, budget is budget, I'm a manager so I know. When a company sets a budget for a tier A game, they're gambling heavily with their cash reserves. OR they borrowed to finance the project, which if not done by the projected deadline can cause major financial problems through re-financing, layoffs to offse...

i much prefer the late announcement, imminent release strategy Bethesda took. Good call on their part. Buzz was huge but capped. There wasn't any negative press from "graphical downgrades" or any other noise like that from sites just clamoring for any "news."

Huh. Guess we didn't play the same game

Not talking PC games - just console. I typically don't bother with my PCantmore unless it's to play something stellar that'll never hit console within a reasonable period of time. DayZ and Red Orchestra / Rising Sun come to mind. I know the latter 2 will never hit console, too niche, and DayZ, they've announced it for PS4 years ago and then..... Nothing.

Agh. I agree with waiting, but a few weeks or months is just excessive, don't you think? The gamer community is quite vocal, we can both agree there in sure, so I find myself waiting up to a week if it's something I really want, especially if it's online only. If there's problems, it takes hours for the community to voice an opinion / sites to post news, not days, and certainly not weeks or months.

Only exception I can think of, where I should have genuinely ...

I had a 360 last gen but borrowed my brother's PS3 just to play the uncharted series and God of War 3. UC2 was just stunning. Like, I didn't want it to end stunning. UC3 was great but fell short in a way that I can't verbalize - maybe my expectations were too high after playing its predecessor. One of the best games ive ever played though.

Agh. Torn on it. On one hand, CoD and Halo style aim assist is way too much. I'd prefer a little assist since its on console, but nothing major.

BUT, on the other hand, it depends on the pace of the game. A slower paced game shouldn't have aim assist because it'll take more time to place well aimed shots.

I'm personally hoping for an intense, slow paced ww2 style fps, without auto-aim. I love this genre... God I hope they do it right

It definitely takes a genius to make a tense, dreadful well played horror games. Just look at horror movies. Crap like the Texas Chainsaw remakes and Friday the 13th are a dime a dozen. But every one in a while you get the Babadook. Or "It Follows". Or The Witch. They're not run of the mill horror movies just as PT is not a run of the mill horror game.

To make true, unsettling horror, it takes a genius, or at least an intellect damn close to. Games are even tou...
