Full 40-100+ hour game, no dumb DLC, No ESG, No SBI, fair representation where it counts, Mini games up the wazoo, amazing combat. And the game ends up selling slower than Remake.... I was going to pay full price to support this game because I've been waiting for it for forever but I think I'll wait until I get it for free from Epic or a Humblebundle monthly.

If you're playing on a 1080p monitor... Sure.. Otherwise on 4k, Performance is like playing with vaseline all over your screen.
That actually could be for the best in this case. Microsoft's future seems more likely than ever to go third party and make software available for all. Also, having Microsoft's backing could make the game soar to greater heights as long as the vision is maintained. The extra legal counsel could also help against any potential lawsuits, not that it'll help the case for it should it happen but they won't have to worry about trying to fight off Pokemon's lawyers alone.

I can't believe Rebirth sales have been lower than Remake. All I can think is that people are either waiting for the third game to drop in years down the line or they're waiting for a PC version or a sale. Rebirth is literally one of the best FF games made in the past 20 years bar none. They put their heart and soul into this and it shows. I think PC is just the future. Games nowadays are held back by consoles. Playing FF7 Rebirth right now and I'm just dying for a PC version that isn't so laggy and textures still deciding to whether they want to load or not.. I can't help but dream of this game being made entirely for PC with no console chains to hold them back.
For me, there's only one game from the PS1 era that would be equal to a FF7:RE and it's Xenogears, mainly because I want them to finish disc 2 properly. I don't even need it to be the extent of FF7:RE super graphics.
I would be disappointed if it wasn't.
I honestly can't believe they wasted the last 10+ years on this crap instead of Elder Scrolls 6. This is the worst timeline.
Dwindling player numbers are always going to be a concern, there's just way too many games that demand too much of your attention nowadays.
Imagine taking a year to release an update that barely has anything new and then creating a huge "community event" where the community gets to vote half of it away and everyone cheers.
