Interesting, wasn't this game supposed to blow everything else out of the water? So far, the only things that impress me about Alan Wake is the lighting (which is fantastic) and the characters.

Very good! I actually enjoyed Sims 2...it's the last one I played. Hopefully Sims 3 on the consoles will be nice.
Steam is a different beast. It runs on machines that have Operating Systems meant for running far more processes than a game console.
Plus, steam doesn't update your software while a game is running. It will only do it while you're on your desktop using your browser or whatever else that's not a fullscreen app.
The only thing steam does that's different from PS3 / 360...is that there's no prompt to update your games. It just downloads and installs updates while you'r...
Something provided without notice just means they can issue an update to software without asking you first.
There is still an install prompt, but they don't need permission to disable your software if you fall behind in your version number because of failure to update.
How is this background patching?
No patching would be done, just the downloading part. It would be 100% required that you restart the game once the patch is done anyways.

I can safely say the DS has more quality games than the Wii, so I'm glad that it is the one about to surpass the PS2 and not the Wii.
