I don't know if PS2 is exactly "retro" yet...
I foresee better color saturation, much better in-game character animation and lipsync (KZ2 facial animation sucked during gameplay), and possibly better particle and liquid effects and hopefully better streaming tech to reduce or eliminate loading screens.
Naughty Dog could really contribute nicely. Their tech is nicely rounded since the first Uncharted.

Look, dude...if a developer obviously makes a crappy quality port with an engine that they've obviously done next to nothing to improve over the past several years, then they deserve to be called out on it. Especially when there are far better looking games already available on the PS3.
Also...it doesn't take nerds / geeks / whatever to spot the differences. I have a lot of friends that own different consoles, and we go over to eachother's houses all the time and...
I'm definitely not impressed with R* with this terrible PS3 port. Missing self-shadows, fuzzy quincunx AA, worse framerate, aggressive LOD and shadow pop-in...
