Well Rage has a patch out now, but I agree it is not what I expect at all. Even with the texture cache on high my 580 can't find anything else in there. at 16k textures, The fridge in the wellsprings bar is so blurry its almost difficult to make out the text.
This is certainly a testament to how useless mega-textures actually is. Even Fallout 3 has more consistency in its textures. In Rage the inconsistencies are so large it's almost impossible to not notice
We already saw a map in English with the official names just a few days ago. And I think the people at E3 got a map too
I have the last Metro and the Bf3 beta on my PC, yes metro will push VGA's further. But honestly it sounds like you hardly even take the time to play the games.
I will notice these differences same as you did, but its not the be all end all
Better late than never! *Scuttles over to Caspian Border servers*
I prefer Dunia. It hasn't been put to use too well yet but it has some nice physics and performs incredibly well. Due to it's perormance and physics I think they can push a lot more out of the engine in the future.
It's actually an altered CryEngine by the way
Erm.... Wii kind of went and sold double what the 360 did
But it kind of is Id's fault, I mean look at it this way. Carmack knows his stuff with PC. Yet what he released with rage produced texture loading issues to some extent on ALL architectures. And due to a lack of graphics options left us unable to select the 16k textures that are hidden in there somewhere.
Essentially one of the best PC developers dumped a port on us that behaves more like a console game than any other port. The options are absolutely pathetic.

Im a bit curious how it apparently has a higher score than games which are not released...elaborate if you feel you can.
But if you really want to play scores, GeOW3 scored lower than GeOW2, which was a failure of a game. Even if 3 is better the scores don't say so, so why you trust them so much?
@Gollum
You know what makes me lmao? the fact your precious is so lonely since you spend all your time trolling PC articles on N4G from....*Drum roll*...your PC.
Well there goes your brief time with N4G
Cheers for the tip, I haven't really been gaming on PC long so I'm pretty cautious of temperatures right now.
I should probably try reading the manual for max operating temperatures really
@AllroundGamer
Well I have a MSI GTX Lighting Xtreme 3GB, So I guess my temps are fairly good
Cover based shooter, Hence the game mechanics are well....Cover based shooter mechanics. In fact UC2 done a very good job of giving us a choice of strategical cover points where possible. It looks like UC3 is stepping it up again.
If you want twitch based gaming go buy CoD or RAGE, but why would you complain about a game due to its gameplay design concept? I hate RTS but I don't go bashing Starcraft
Really? Could have sworn my 2k computer was pushing pretty hard on to top of the line, Didn't realise people had 10k PCs.
Must be a really big case! /s
I have it almost the same as you, hardly any issues with streaming textures. But it sends my GPU temps up to about 62c at areas. Did you notice your temps going higher than usual with this game?
And yes the 60FPS lock is so stupid, If it runs on consoles at 60 FPS a good rig would probably get a couple hundred fps instead
they look great but to be honest I was expecting less 'flatness' due to dx11
Either way it will still look awesome
Your one sonic fan on PC says hello!
Though I will be getting it for PS3 as well since my partner loves sonic too
Finally some sense. Yeah pc games look great, Its the best place to play multiplats by far. But console exclusives look great too. My year wouldn't be complete without GeOW3 on 360, UC3 on PS3 and Skyrim+BF3 on PC.
I would hate to be the type to miss these sort of experiences due to an unexplainable grudge against hardware personally
@inveni0
Yeah with Rage it is a huge design flaw in the mega-textures technology. I get the same issue through an i7@4.4Ghz and a 3gb gtx 580 lightning xtreme with the same 8gb ram.
Even more disturbingly it brings my GPU temps up to new found levels of 62c whereas something like Unigine Heaven benchmarker will only manage 54c. I don't know what Carmack actually has been doing over these last 6 years but I wont be taking much interest in any game that use...
agreed, I only recently got a pc capable of maxing it, and its a whole different ball park, especially if you have an nvidia card as well
6 hours in and it just keeps getting better. I get the feeling I am nearing the halfway point though.
Not a big fan of the tech itself however the game is actually one of the best I have played in a while. It lacks depth as an RPG so I have been treating it like a twitch based shooter and its making for a really good experience
