We will hear nothing about new hardware until 2017.

Sonic games sell more on Nintendo hardware than on Sony and Microsoft hardware.

It was the "CPU" that dev complained about. Never the GPU which they all agreed was better. The CPU does not effect graphics.
It was only some launch ports that showed problems, and "looks worse" was usually the only problem they didn't show. Graphics were usually better in a few areas with a few glitches and here. That has been attributed to poor development tools released by Nintendo before launch.

Nintendo fans are the original hardcore gamers. They are people who play games for quality and creativity, not specs and graphics. Those are graphics whores and fanboys, not hardcore gamers.
How much and how often you game determines how much of a gamer you are, not what you do it on.
The tech in the Wii U was impossible to produce when the PS3/360 came out.

E3 is only relevant to hardcore gamers. People who aren't hardly know what or when e3 isn't.
The last year Nintendo direct were far more popular than the their e3 presentations.
What this says is that Nintendo's has created an avenue so successful that they no longer "need' e3. Its simply another option to them.
The next console from Nintendo will not be announced until at least 2017 and it will definitely outperform the PS4/720.

The only time Sonic games made a profit were on Nintendo hardware and most Sonic games never saw PC release, so how exactly were we screwed?
