Read the article, there were some apparent disagreements with the other directors about the studio's design decisions.

No one is implying that this will spell the end for the studio, you can dial down your defensive reflexes a notch. But to pretend that the departure of a man with his knowledge and expertise will be insignificant or ineffectual is myopic at best.

Well this is a tad melodramatic.

Oh I hope that's true, 14 has been the best FF game since 12, the story is excellent.

Thanks for that! Being a crazy person with more money than sense, I just bought an Index 3 days ago. Turns out I'll be getting the game for free because of that :)

That's the best optimization you can muster over 12 years of development?

The Force Unleashed games are extremely different, and frankly, outside of their rather novel physics simulation for the time, they were poorly designed overall (combat, level design, everything). They also took huge liberties with the force and the power it grants its wielders. It never felt very Star Wars outside of the prologue. This, on the other hand, nails the atmosphere, and has a rewarding combat system with interesting locales to explore and come back to.

They've already said it will be a custom PCI-E 4 SSD, so it could be be about 4000MB/s - 6000MB/s. Building it into the circuit board would offer no real advantage vs using an M.2 NVMe slot, as it will still have to use a common supported bus (PCI-E 4) for compatibility. It's faster than any PCI-E 3 SSD, but v4 SSDs are already on the market. By the time it launches, they'll be a little more common.

There are some amazing console only games that are often disappointingly hamstrung by resolution, framerate and load times. Now you can play those games with comparable fidelity to the PCs of today. The only thing I'd really want to see is much higher framerate (100+), but they're only now focusing on getting games to 60 it seems, which is still a welcome step above the horrid 30fps limit we usually see.

Oh god, I hope no studios with actual talent get swallowed up in this. Their train-wreck track record with acquired studios is second only to EA's.

They clearly will, this is more of palate cleanser for them. They're off the back of 3 classic CRPGs in a row and a spiritual successor to Fallout, they're likley all RPG'd out for now and need to do something new. Devs are just people, they experience burnout too.

I hope Pillars of Eternity pivots into an Elder Scrolls successor. The lore is rich/deep enough and there are some striking visual flourishes that would look lovely in 3D. I'd love to see Tyranny afforded similar treatment; that game has excellent lore and player agency.

FFXIV too. Your character goes through tonnes of insane crap with a stalwart group of over the top personalities, and when they go through hardship or die he/she just stands their looking shocked or nods. It just seems limp and lifeless, like the character has no connection to the plot, despite the game going out of its way to demonstrate that you are the most important character in the story.

It's made up of the ancestors of mostly white Europeans from the 1600s-1800s. While Europe has moved on from the religious and cultural divisions of time that brought them to war multiple times over, Americans have chosen not to, and cling to them rigorously because their national identity is shaky and nebulous at best. In that sense, you have elected to separate yourselves from Europe and its ideals, and your actions henceforth are entirely your own.

I wish people would learn that the average Twitch viewer is not the average gamer, and that the average gamer doesn't really care about Twitch or who's watching what on it. I don't care about Twitch and I know about 2 people who do, but I know dozens of gamers personally who play practically daily and are heavily interested in gaming.

Your average Twitch viewer is around 21, apparently. They don't have a lot of disposable income, but they probably have a lot...

This magic difference between PC and console because "muh optumuzayshuns" has practically disappeared this generation, and there are numerous articles and videos to prove it. This will not change.

And HOLY LOLs Batman, every innovation in the last 20 years made on consoles started on PC (MMO, social gaming, voice chat, multiplayer, F2P, disk storage, high definition, 3D graphics acceleration, AND MANY MORE). You just proved how little you know (and really how youn...
