Reviews are largely based on personal opinion backed up with fact based reasoning as to why a game excels or not. What readers have to do is look for anything that resonates for them in order to help make up their minds. At least today services like twitch and YouTube make it easy for people to watch a game for themselves as part of forming an opinion.

The sad state of gaming today is that there seems to be less educated discussion about why we agree or disagree, rather its now mainly just hate comments and accusations of trolling or being on a company's payroll.
I would love to know why you support a score of 89 for a game you may not have played as yet. For me, I'm still undecided about the game.

As for PSN feeling cleaner; I recommend you take a look at UStream for an hour and you'll see that degenerates still flock to PSN.
For me it's about value for money. I'm quite prepared to play a short game if I feel like I'm getting a value for money experience. However, likelihood I'll pay full retail will depend on reviews and word of mouth....not fan boy rhetoric.
I have been playing games since the early 80s and over the years have played game after game where collectables, that have no effect on the outcome of the game, are scattered around the environment. I don't consider it a "speed run" where I don't stop to pick up all the collectables, or any collectables for that matter.

This game to me screamed for the need to make the environment a much bigger part of the experience. Imagine if you could cause rock falls to trap or crush the beast, start fires to corner it, dam water flows to draw it out of hiding or cause floods to slow it down / drown it.

I have to admit, I would find it annoying if I were forced to reformat my HDD and re-download all the content that was already on it. Surely there is a more intelligent solution to this problem, especially if the old console is kaput.
I have to disagree re: your comment about the X1 and PS4 essentially being gaming laptops however, I do wish both MS and Sony had not skimped on the CPUs as they are definitely the Achilles heel of both devices. It would have been great if they had both opted for a singe quad core for O/S and app tasks and something more substantial for gaming related tasks.

I agree that demos are a great way to try before you buy but its not like games on the Ouya are priced that high in the first place. Spending a few dollars on a game and realising its not for you is no real big deal.
I normally watch Twitch streams to base an opinion nowadays. Nothing like watching actual game play to help make a decision where full retail prices are concerned.
