Both console's have areas where they are excedingly good at, and both have areas in which they need to improve drastically. Good examples of this are the RROD's for the 360 and the shoddy PS3 ports.
We can sit here screaming and having fits about these problems all day to no avail, MS and Sony are not evil and both do listen to their fans, I assure you both companies are making efforts to improve in the area...

There are lots of factors a company has to take into consideration when pricing a console, and one of those is the competition and what they charge, example; all the big electonic outlets have competitors that drop the price on a certain product because they have bought a bigger amount, now the other outlets are forced to do the same to not loose customers, they are not scared, they know that this is what they have to do to stay in the game.
