I will miss not having to have the disc in the tray...I've always hated that. But, apparently people weren't ready to handle something new. Occasionally, the internet voices their opinion and gets it wrong. By occasionally I mean quite frequently ;)
Check out the video in the story. I have how they say it's "actual game play". It's an actual cut scene, not someone playing the game. That's completely different. But it seems that's all developers show anymore.
Yes and from the people have spent limited time with it they have said it was unresponsive to gestures. Of course, plenty of time to tweak it so we'll see. As long as it was a software problem and not a hardware problem and some developers put it to good use, it could be a neat feature.
Some good questions but really the Family Plan was a smart thing and would have been great. MS was taking a bit of a gamble and giving consumers something great but didn't communicate it well. Since most games now have a multiplayer component it wouldn't really effect those as much since you can't play it while your friend is also playing it. Playstation has very loud, very young fanboys. 1.) Yes, I got one a week after launch and have never had problems with it. I find by vacuuming my house every now and then that the fan doesn't suck in copious amounts of dust causing it to overheat. Some of these losers may want to try that. Why do I ever read user comments? CONSTANTLY, PS3 fanboys, most of them 13 years old, dominate the comments. There is never one piece of useful information anywhere in here. I agree. The people who aren't complaining about the updates must never have done one on the 360. The download is so much faster (i.e., smaller file) and the installation takes place as it downloads. I can't understand why Sony can't make their firmware updates smaller in size. I'm willing to bet that the major update for the 360 interface will install more quickly than this does. And no, I'm not a 360 fanboy...just speaking the truth.
Last night my friend's wife was moaning that "there's that Blu Ray out now that we need to get." She considers me a tech geek and she is an anti-techie, so for her to make that statement shows me the marketing is really starting to catch on.
Also, HDTV prices are getting lower and lower...a lot will be sold this holiday season and Blu Rays will follow once stand alone prices come down.
Good point. There are some movies that people don't care if they look pristine and others that they do. I mean, do you care if Ferris Bueller's Day Off is Blu Ray rather than upscaled DVD? Most wouldn't. But Iron Man, Batman...I think we all prefer the sharpest pictures possible for movies like those.
Oh come on. This RROD has been done to death. You don't think Sony has ever had any major recalls? What I care most about is that MS admitted there was a problem and addressed it with an unprecedented warranty - one that I've personally never had to use with my launch unit. I have a PS3 as well but I'm guessing that's all you have.
