Yes... How large that "niche" demographic will be is yet to be determined, but the console is not for everyone.
Low expectations? Why? The X1 has sold well but has not lived up to expectations at all. With the higher price and weaker console along with the botched E3 reveal MS lost millions of sales to mostly Sony. A lot of that market mostly plays high end third party games. Unlike the Pro, the X is in great position to take back some market share lost to the vanilla PS4 . The X won't add another 30 million to the overall sales of the Xbox brand, but it is going to sell well.

@ Jaguar...except one thing...MS games on pc usually are not has optimized as they are on the console. This has been proven many times..So, you will be able to play the games but that doesn't mean you will necessarily have the superior version. No guarantee on that.
The console will do well with Xbox fans but it will also do very well with those who mostly care about performance and the best versions of games but who don't want to pay equivalent pc prices. The X at worst should do moderately well. I have a feeling when all is said and done it will exceed most expectations.
