i don't dis-agree with the shipping/exchange method. What i am saying is that considering this is the time of year that shipping companies are swamped with packages the consumer needs to take extra precautions.

wouldn't the Steam boxes biggest competition be the PC. Yes you get some bleed thru from a few console games, mainly 3rd party. But, the real competitor is the PC.
Lets assume the power of the cloud is real and effective as MS claims(i don't believe the hype on this). 1st party devs would in theory be the only people to use it. Reason being is it would require 2 different formats off a game to be developed by 3rd party devs.
Imagine coding one version to take advantage of cloud power and then having to code another version of the same game to use only the console itself.

This is good to know for both consoles as the PS4 will be implementing sleep/restart later on down the road and could experience similar problems.

The three console system works, The problem is MS was so busy trying to knock down The two oldest gaming houses that they forgot to create a real brand identity.
The brand could survive and thrive depending on who buys it out and how the dev team is constructed.
Example MS is contracted to create and manage the OS for future consoles.
System design is done by the new owner and incorporates members of the Vbox team that are relevant and conducive to system growth.

here is my problem all generation long Xbox games have been getting awesome review scores and the fans have been eating it up and loving it. Now the shoe is on the other foot and they are screaming review don't mean a damn as long as you enjoy the game. Well if that were true then take your lumps and move on with your game.

I'm not worried about the look and the feel of the game. I am more worried about the game mechanics. I don't want to end up playing Battlefield with a Star Wars skin.
Actually the reason that retailers are doing this is because they have already printed black friday ads that contain these consoles. If they sold all they had in stock they risk not having consoles to fulfill the ad they have already printed. This leaves them open to possible accusations of false advertising.
actually if you research articles, Sony stated that they held back consoles to help with demand over the holiday. Retailers have been following suite.

I watched some launch streams and the excitement behind the XB1 launch in a MS store was dry, boring and actually quite disturbing. I hope MS does find a way to recover from this less than stellar launch.
i did a zip code check (30024) for Target and my area has 14 stores in a 20 mile radius showing XB1 in stock. So sold out is not even a phrase MS can use.
Ive seen reviews and live streams where people are saying how most of these games are not that good. Which is really bad. Forza 5 is getting good reviews(thank god) but RYSE is said to be clunky and while pretty doesn't have a variation in AI.
