The only thing the game failed at was being open world. It ruined a lot of what MGS was. It's still a good game but nowhere near the level of the previous legendary games in the series IMO. It certainly didn't deserve the vast amount of perfect scores as good as the game is.

Totally agree! MGS didn't need to be open world. I much prefer the open ended mission but progression into other areas like MgS4 over this open world rubbish. It ruined MGSV for me.

Like the past two broken, bug ridden games that got a free pass right?

The one game that no one should buy on day one yet, everyone will buy it and act like its the best game ever even filled with a million bugs like the last two games and FO3 still got awarded GOTY. GOTY has been irrelivent to me ever since then tbh.

I've been saying this since release. I'd take back the MGS4 style of play, story telling and cut scenes over MGSV. V just don't feel like a MGS game anymore after the prologue. It's lost it's identity. I like the game but it's not the MGS I've come to love over the past 17 years.

Aliens are just as overused though?

3928d ago 0 agree5 disagreeView comment

What?! The previous MGS games in a lot of ways were better than V though? It was its own game, had its own feel, its own identity which many games copied many aspects from over the years. Now it's lost all that and become Far Cry with a lifeless open world. It's a good game but Takes a few steps backwards, not the game itself but because of the open world the game is played in.

I'd take the vast openness of areas in MGS 4 which gave you the freedom to complete th...

I don't exactly get it. The missions I've gone around traqing everyone and not getting seen I've got a A/B but playing guns blazing I've also got the same.

On topic the mission structure is pretty messed up. Last night I had to go on a 'important side op' which then took me into mission 11 to fight quiet... That important side op should of been a main mission or the begging of mission 11. I thought it was a bit backwards tbh.

@Kale, they also tell you how many episodes you're getting and don't charge full price.

This is no different to to steams early access but the problem with Hitman is that they are charging full price for it where as most early access games are discounted to pull in the extra sales and help fund/polish the game.

@Jet I'm so glad I'm not the only one who sees through MGSV. Don't get me wrong it's a good game buts become stale for being open world and lost its identity as a series with V. It's the problem 90% of open world games have though, not just MGSV. Most open worlds have different areas to look at but once you get past the initial wow factor the rocks and lighting you soon realise that MGSV open world is pretty boring along with lot of boring missions. It's the AI that ma...

Enslaved was bright and colourful for a post-apocalyptic game.

A digital only future would kill gaming here in the UK. The PS store prices over here are absolutely unreal. You end up paying near £20 more on the PS than you would of you were to go and get it from a brick and motar store. Those stores would probably then not sell the consoles as they would have no way of making money of games both new or preowned which would result in shops closing down. im sure this would be the case on many other parts of the world too.

I'm the complete opposite. The prologue felt like a true MGS game. After that it loses its MGS identity and decides it wants to be a cross between Far Cry and Red Dead. I miss the cut scenes and the feeling of progression through areas, not a open open world that all looks the same.

I enjoyed the prologue but I really ain't enjoying the rest of the game as much as I was hoping to. The prologue felt like a true MGS that we've all come to love but after that the game loses its identity and becomes A third person Far Cry/Red Dead hybrid game. Shame really.

The prologue was a true MGS experience though. The main game is stripped of its identity and is pretty much a third person Far Cry.

I've third day in and I still ain't been able to sign in once. Stupid question but what do the daily sign in bonuses grant you? I thought they would of been for MGO which obviously don't go live until next month..

That first hour was breathtaking and how I wish the rest of the game was. It was hands down the best opening to any game ever. It feels like the MGS we all know and love. Whilst MGSV is good it's lost so much of its identity. It feels more like a third person Far Cry game and tbh I'm not loving this game nowhere near as much as the previous games because of it.

I don't know what you were playing but there's still over 100 full servers, most of them 64 player servers and that's with the EU filter on!

I think I remember them saying they'd never take GTA out of the U.S. again as much as I love the idea of another GTA London. Orrr Sony should just get cracking on with another Getaway game.

Whilst a good game, Just Cause 2 had this problem. The map was HUGE but never ever felt interesting to the point where you wanted to explore it all.
