Do you only read the headlines?
The BD spot problem is isolated to a production run of one title. It is also not unique to BD as if you search the net you'll find the same problem on laser disc, dvd and cd. IF is hasn't been reported on HD DVD it is likely due to the lesser amounts of HD DVDs that have been produced...not because their manufacturing system is inherently superior.
Please TRY to make sense.
It is actually one of the best priced Blu-ray players around...it happens to also play games very well, connect to the net wirelessy out of the box, act as a media center and can be used as a basic linux computer.
If you want to be sour about something...this prob isn't it.
Disclosure. Dont own any next gen machine nor HD or BD player. I do try to own some common sense.
What we need is competition in hardware and content...not format.
Carrying two formats is keeping prices higher as economies of scale are split between the two formats.
To be anal the numbers are from VG but VG did not produce the chart in that manner or the graph.
As for the pent up PS2 owners, they writer covered that off by referring the 'cost conscious' consumer. IE. They are saying that there is already a demand for the machine by PS2 owners and a price drop will just shift their purchase to an earlier period..just as it seems to have done for the PSP...it won't create NEW demand.
The NEW demand will only be satisfied b...
I don't see how Toshiba could afford to lose $150+ on each player...they are not in control of content like Sony is with BD and Sony Entertainment.
Also...I hadn't heard that BD paid to get into BB..I read the BB news release as them making a decision based on client preference 70/30%...so if HD DVD group has to 'pay' for shelf space exclusivity that just digs their hole bigger doesn't it?
'Make a deal with Netflix'...I assume that the distribution of client dema...
replaced by BEATS.
I would think the reason they are base lining off of a Low End PC is because the PS3 is only $600 ($500 from SonyStyle). Thus...it is 20x faster than an average $600 PC.
Actually they didn't.
It was a posting on an open forum that Deeko, VGOA and N4G then turned into a 'story' that was attributed back to SPG. You can see Deeko's public apology here: http://www.deeko.com/news/?...

Lol
Why not TRY to put a coherent thought together about the message rather than the messenger...
On topic.
I submitted this story as it is of interest to those that use thier PS3 as a Linux machine. It is also of interest to those interested in optimized performance from Cell architecture. I'd say it passes both those test.
Console Crusader owns and runs VGOA yet you write this up like it is something you 'found'. And yes...it was already on N4G http://www.n4g.com/News-429...
Please take a look at Club Penguin (which SONY is rumored to be purchasing)...after only 2 years in existence it is pulling in 60 million in revenues and has 4 million users ... the EXACT type of approach SOE is talking about here.

If the CoE wants to charge...fine. At the same time they should renounce their charitable/tax free status and pay tax on this extortion.
its a price drop.
I didn't give you a negative but NOW you are insulting retards.
As I said in post 2
Incorrect.
This is NOT a prediction of PopSci. They are starting a predictions league at ppx.popsci.com on June 11 and what you see in the image are the first 5 propositions. They will then post the results (basically it is polling their users but as a prediction league format).
PopSci has made NO prediction
This is not news as it IS NOT A PREDICTION. It IS A QUESTION that POPSCI is asking in a poll. They are asking their p...
do you/we identify an image at imageshack as being posted by Sony Defense Force?
As I stated...this post is COMPLETELY incorrect (perhaps the person didn't actually read the text at the top of the image) but I don't see how we drag a website into this without 'proof'. It could just be an honest misinterpretation by the tipster. By the way there is a story at Advertising Age where this was picked up:
MS and Bell have a current marketing relationship that runs past the end of this year so it would be surprising if this actually happened.
Although YOU might be sick of it there are a huge number of people fence sitting on a choice so that they don't choose the next 8Track or Betamax...HD is a big investment for almost anyone and getting a 'feel' for who is going to win out might allow people to make a choice easier than listening to some knob at BB tell you what is 'cool' or what 'sux'.
So..tiresome, yes...needed, yes.
And Brian...please, instead of complaining why don't take the time to set up you...
Poorly worded fan review based on what they have read elsewhere...poor choice to approve this.
