They do care about the little details though, but only when it's about ps3 against 360. Then it's fine to argue over a few pixels here or there, graphics matter then. It's a big deal on who is getting the superior product.
But when the difference is huge like ps3/360 against pc, then graphics don't matter. Then pc gamers are graphics whores and don't care about gameplay.

I can buy a used music album cd, and it will be exactly the same as the brand new cd. I could also buy a used book that has been kept immaculate, and therefore will be just as good as a new one.

Yes but the whole point of speedruns is to go through the game as fast as possible, hence the name 'speedrun'.
I'm sure the guy played through it the same as the rest of us when he first got it and played it, so he got the enjoyment of playing it normally. Now he's obviously tried to go through it as fast as possible to set a record, which is adding to his enjoyment of the game even further. I think he's getting his moneys worth.

It was nothing but a cash-in on a game that did everything better than itself with the only exception being the graphics which it was more competent in doing.
Other than that it was a fairly dismal game and deserved to be bought only at a low price.

Getting the CE editions can actually save you money in the long term, think of it as an investment. There are plenty of games I've bought CE editions of and have sold the collectors items on ebay minus the actual game and made a profit months later.

I respect your opinion, I loved Demon's souls too, but I'd say Dark Souls has the edge on it for the sheer fact that there is so much more in it.
Although it's not without its problems, the online was better in Demon's and the framerate in Dark Souls is terrible in places. But for all it does wrong there is so much more it does right.

I was a bit miffed when I bought it (on pc) and it ran like a dog and looked like some strange kaleidoscope when you turned around, but after the patch it runs pretty much flawlessly with only the odd occasion when I notice a tiny bit of texture loading. It's nothing like the mess it was on release.
