Drakengard 3 didn't blow out gameplay expectations like this has.

I think he is just compensation for all these comments over the years that Japanese devs can't make good games anymore. Bottom line is great devs make great games. Some of us just really enjoy Japanese games so thing kind of thing is all the more special. Still can't wait to get me some Horizon and God of War!

Man I really loved Vanquish, Bayonetta, and Metal Gear Rising but I think all of the recent cash grabs Platinum has their name on (transformers, Korra, and Ninja Turtles) kind of made me luke warm on them and I slightly forgot just how great they are at making this kind of game.

That being said, I dare say this is the BEST combat Platinum has ever made. I was like you having the best hopes for this game with a little doubt it would be special, but now i'm so completely ...

I played the Japanese demo and have decided this game is outrageous guys. Seriously so good, everyone needs to download and support this thing!

Agree, trimming that down to five though i'd take Gherman, Maria, Fake king, Artorias, Sif. Another that could be considered is Manus imo!

Super curious what Ueda does next.

Agreed. I think the controls get better as the game goes on. When I started the game I was really questioning if I could get through it. But after the half way point the whole game went super smoothly for me. Probably just me growing accustomed but still. I really felt like they did a great job illustrating the bond in the game. Trico minded perfectly by the end.

I think todays FPS players are a little narrow minded. Guerrilla games have always made games that don't really abide by the same FPS rules COD wrote and feel a little obtuse and always have mechanics that aren't typical. It's actually my favorite part of their games but also the same reason others feel meh about them :(

I really wish they would just do Killzone 2 with multiplayer so it doesn't split the player base.... but aside of that reason it would make no sense XP

Was anyone else on here a fellow Ape$ clan member from Killzone 2 back in the day?? Man, the days of pistolas magnum matches that lasted hours... That game was so fun, I just love the weighty tactical feel of killzone games and really felt like 3 and shadow fall fell off a bit but I thought what Guerrilla Cambridge did with Mercenary was a return to form for me at least. If they get handed the Killzone duties and continue to appeal to me and not COD players I will be psyched!

I try to hold back my comments on the souls series because I feel like i'm kind of a savant of the series and most people on here just don't dig that deep into them but I had to give you a shout out! That's my order and I always have to fist bump anyone who puts DS2 last on the list. That game along with the dlc for DS3 (made by the same B-team at FROM) just don't have the same design mastery as the others. to me the mark of a great souls game is when everything feels like it ...

Dark souls 2 needs to drop down the list... As a guy who adores these games more than anything and have played them all to bits, DS2 was uninspired and had terribly flawed design. The best things about the souls games and bloodborne are how intricate the levels are and how everything is placed into the world with purpose. That wasn't the case with ds2 or the latest ds3 dlc, they felt like a fan used a dark souls creation tool and just placed a bunch of stuff everywhere.... When Miyazaki m...

Not completely untrue...

I feel like everyone just has to have the most generic modern control scheme or people freak out. I go back and play older games all the time and I think one of the funnest parts is actually learning weird controls for a game and then to become proficient with them. Playing through Resident Evil 4 for the first time and I went from "huh, these are the controls everyone talks about, to hey this is pretty badass actually" lol.

Really?? I was one of the few that loved Watch Dogs but more for the gameplay and supporting cast. Everyone including me hated Aiden and most wrote the whole game off because of him.

So now we write articles sticking up for him?? Come on guys. But I could see him being the bad guy in this game honestly. I'd love to kill that dude.

I think same could be said for God of War.

None of those things would have helped. They screwed up as soon as they made a handheld that promised console like experiences. All of the games they made that are under that category felt terrible in comparison to actual console games. The screen size/sticks/button layout all make playing games like Uncharted or Gravity rush super cumbersome. I prayed that they would put the next Gravity Rush on ps4 and they are because it makes sense. There is a reason most 3ds games use simplified characte...
