You think the hard drive has any effect on the price? At $350, they're probably selling it at cost, or maybe a little less. They double the hard drive but the net loss goes down.
The price difference for a 120 and 250GB HDD is probably $20 at the volume they're buying. But its still a good deal for the consumer as it'll cost them more than $50 to upgrade to 250GB and be left with a useless 120GB HDD.

Most games aren't released in South America. Sony just launched the PS2 in a number of south american countries last year. Not much of an argument here.
Stop comparing prices by region. It's apples and oranges. Especially with a weak US dollar to compare it to.

GTAIV was the 'Most Successful Entertainment Product Launch' according to Guinness. Wii Fit launched almost 2 years ago in Japan and shouldn't qualify as an Entertainment Product. It's like comparing the Star Wars trilogy with 'Buns of Steel'.

The first game suffered from some pretty crazy inconsistency. The occasional spikes to 50+ frames were as jarring as the drops below 20.
They still make games genius.

Actually this article misses the point because all the content in that disc is available for download on PS2 via PlayOnline. All future content will be too. It's just not worth it to publish PS2 expansions any more. Retailers won't carry them.
