I've had an Elite for about a year now and the drive is nowhere near full, even with my favourite games installed on it, and a bunch of demos and tons of XBLA games downloaded on to it.
I genuinely don't see the reason to switch out the HDD, other than to do something dodgy with the contents of it. So, this update causes me absolutely no issue and the 360 remains as appealing as it did anyway.
