Spoken like a true fanboy.
This is pointless. Unless the differences are so significant (i.e. Madden) then this stuff is stupid.
Activision was the top games publisher in 2007, overtaking EA due to stellar sales of Guitar Hero and Call of Duty 4. They are also merging with Blizzard who makes World of Warcraft, which will only solidify its place at the top.
(In my Michael Pachter voice...)
May be Activision's way of lowering their own expectations for their investors so that when they earn significantly more than they predict, the company will look like they had an above average year... which in turn will raise their stock price and make the company even more attractive as a buyout candidate. Apple does this all the time but investors have caught on. Look for PS3 sales to easily exceed 3 million and for XBOX 360 sales to be slightly bette...
20 minute wait? And they are complaining? It's a freaking ONE-TIME install! If it took 2 hours then yeah, complain. But 20 minutes? Here's an idea:
-- Buy DMC4 for the PS3.
-- When you get home, put the disk in your PS3 and start downloading the installation file to your hard drive.
-- Next, grab your favorite game magazine and head for the bathroom and take a dump. When you are done with your number 2, you may have a few extra chocolate chips st...
Actually according to published reports, they are not losing as much money anymore as the cost to make a PS3 has dropped to around $400 bucks and they have shrunk the blu-ray lasers even more, which will also result in more cost savings.
And while I'm sure Sony would never do it, picking up an extra 1-3 million PS3 owners and potential blu-ray movie buyers AND hurting Microsoft at the same time is an interesting proposition. Most analysts expect them to drop the price of the PS...
Why doesn't Sony do this for the PS3? Think about it:
"Tired of your XBOX360 getting RROD? Well for a limited time only, trade in your RRoD XBOX and get $150 off the price of any Playstation 3 console!"
I have both systems but if my XBOX RRoDs I'd trade it in in a second for a PS3... and then sell the PS3 on EBAY and buy a new Premium XBOX 360 with the falcon chips and HDMI!
(Guess this is why Sony would never do the deal lol)
Am I the only one who thinks these screenshots look crappy as hell?
I never really played GTA for the graphics though so I guess it doesn't matter but after seeing spot on car models in GT Prologue and Forza and shiny nice cars in Burnout... I mean damn that taxi and cop car both look very PS2ish...
This is what you call pwnage:

From Wikipedia:
"The stock price peaked in 1999 at around US $119 (US $60.928 adjusting for splits)."
So obviously the stock is not at an all-time high. In fact it is trading at 33.39 which is $86 dollars BELOW its all-time high.
Now Nintendo on the other hand....
It's fun to play against others but gets old pretty quickly. I suspect that online play will be added in the future as a patch or as downloadable content (for $ of course) since they ask you to agree to the whole PSN online disclaimer everytime you start the game and has online leaderboards already. Once it gets online play the game will be infinitely better as I can't wait to bust some online noob's azz while I listen to 50 Cent GRODT in the background.
Cannot see myself playing GTA on any system other than a PS3. The downloadable episodes (that you have to pay for) have no appeal to me. The next game I actually see myself buying for my 360 is Ninja Gaiden 2.
Death your points are valid but I don't buy a game for the console I buy a game for the GAME. If the game is better on the 360 then I will buy it for the 360. If it is on par with or better on the PS3 I will buy it for the PS3, very simple. Only exception will be GTA4 as I can't see myself playing it on anything other than my PS3 and could care less for the downloadable content.
The reason why Orange Box got low sales on the PS3 is because hardcore gamers knew it was a broken product with frame rate issues and was destined to be a shi++y port as EA was in charge and not Valve. So basically it was a bad product and who in their right mind is going to buy a bad product for the PS3 when they can get the same great product on the 360 and PC? I can honestly say that's why I had no interest in picking it up for my PS3.

This is setting up to be Sony's year with the Blu-ray format win, Home, LBP, MGS4, etc. but if they don't capitalize...
Just part of the business, publishers need to get over it and stop crying. You don't see Toyota crying when someone trades in their Camry for a Benz and then the Benz dealership sells it back to someone else. If everyone wasn't so damn greedy this wouldn't even be an issue.
And the fact is the XBOX 360 has only sold TWICE as many systems as the PS3. Thats's a 2:1 ratio not 3 to 1. The fact that the 360 sold close to 20% LESS consoles this year compared to last year, even with heavy hitters like Halo 3, Bioshock, and Mass Effect all dropping last year... doesn't bode well for the future prospects of the system this year. Gears of War 2 alone will not cut it.
HD DVD players (including 360 add on) haven't even topped 1 million worldwide, while close to 10 million PS3s have been sold worldwide to date ALONE. Even if only 10% use the PS3 for Blu-Ray movies that's still more thaan HD DVD. Add to tit the amount of Blu-ray standalones and the fact that Blu-ray discs outsell HD DVD 3 to 1... it really wasn't a tough decision at all on Warner's part. The writing is on the wall for HD DVD.
Mr Marbles, people like you are what hold back innovation and creativity when it comes to game development. You probably think the Halo Forge editor is the best thing since sliced bread, but an entire game built on building and sharing levels, rating and playing those levels cooperatively... that's a no no. If Sackboy were Master Chief you'd probably love the concept.
From your comments, I can pretty much tell that you never played Uncharted. I actually agree with you on Heaven...
Those calling this game Kiddie just don't get it. This game is whatever YOU make it. This is what makes it fun. It challenges you to think and be creative in building your own levels and creating obstacles for OTHERS to try out and rate. This will be a gigantic hit if executed correctly. Tie this in with Home and you can see what Sony is trying to accomplish. A community that not only PLAYS games together but MAKES games together and SHARES games together.
Also keep in mind, if...
It's as simple as this - the 360 camp is very good at hyping their games and setting them up to succeed when they are released. They invest in marketing and throw perks to reviewers who tend to skew towards rating the game a bit better. The marketing and "gifts" that were given out when Halo 3 was released almost made me puke, but Halo would have sold a high amount even without the manufactured hype. Plus you can't overlook that 360 fanboys love their machine and will buy most quali...
God of War has ALWAYS had hidden sex minigames so this is nothing new for the series.
