Ffxv was in development when ff13 was in development. So this is just speculation.
The only one Sony need to worry about is Sony.

You and me are on the same boat. I have over 25 unopened games (bought them when they were on sale or gifts) that i never had a chance to play. I just started playing FFXV.
Scorpio is looking to to be a beast of a machine. However, i dont like what Microsoft is doing. Its seems that they are holding back releases of new (exclusive) games so that it can be release on the Scorpio. Leaving current xbox one owners in a game drought. Its what they did with the xbox 360 when the Xbox one was announced.
I understand why they had to do it in episodes. A game like FFXV took almost over 10 years to develope (of course moving from current gen to new gen may have increase development time). A game a big as FFVII will take forever to complete if they did it in one shot.
If they make it similar to FFXV fighting mechanics, then i think it may be do-able. However, FFVII uses a lot of magic spells and a Materia system. Not sure how that will work with this mechanic.
Well given the fact that the game was announced in 2015, I dont think we will see the first installment of the game until 2018 (thats if we're lucky). Im confident that the game will stay with the current gen because so far we havent heard anything from Sony or Microsoft regarding the next gen consoles.
But to answer the article's question, No. Its not a bad idea to remake FFVII. EVER!
Well i expect Nintendo to have more 1st party exclusives than Xbox one and PS4. Nintendo currently lacking in 3rd party support but i hope that changes with the Switch, but im not going to hold my breath.

Sony fan get lied about release dates, yes but the game get released. Microsoft lied about a games in development and never get released.
Last I checked call of duty, battlefield, etc were also on ps4.

Im very interested in the Zelda game. It looks like it has some Shadow of the Colossus elements to it.
If im going to get the switch, its most likely going to be for Zelda and hopefully a new Metroid game. One question, why the Zelda's game still called, "Legend of Zelda"? Shouldnt it be the Legend of Link. The damn guy is doing all the work but get no recognition for it.

Ok to compare 3DS to PS Vita (since theyre both portable), its also ok to compare PS4 and XboxOne to PCs but its NOT ok to compare Switch to PS4 or Xbox (which are all consoles)?
