I don't know. The only real difference between the PS4 & XB1 regaring multimedia is the HDMI in passthrough & Skype for now.
All/most other services will be found on PS4 also without a paywall.
XB1 does have a superior natural user interfaces if your're talking about OS functions like snap, voice control using IR to control your media centre. But if you don't like these features then it's hardly superior in anyway.

This news actually sounds worrying to me considering it was recently made. If MS are willing to sink that much money into this then I see the pattern with X360 and it's lack of new ips/exclusives continuing with the XB1 in time.

Apart from that you can trade in your games which will mean that patent was not going to be implementation with the PS4 at least does that mean it may go with the next-gen console after PS4 who knows companies file patents all the time and don't always use them.
