What if it started way back when as a way of ensuring more sales because games were purchased as gifts?
The average kid has 4 grandparents.
If each grandparent gave a game for a gift, that's 4 games. Or if they teamed up, that 2 games... one for each side of the family.
Perhaps in the 80's and 90's, when gaming was maybe not taken as seriously, that was a good way of ensuring full prices games being sold at highest profit margins to kids or fa...

Netflix is Movies as a service... and they are still able to create unique and compelling content that is exclusive to them, which strengthens the value of the subscription as a whole.
If Games as a service happened, sales per title would play less of a role in whether a studio shuts down or not.
One benefit of being a service is consistent revenue to be spread across all aspects of the service, and things sort of level out for the risk/reward ratio of quirkier or niche gam...

Xbox may not have as many hard hitting exclusive games, but their Ideas and forward thinking have me feeling very happy and an Xbox gamer.

Upscaling is software usually.
This is more than simply upscaling.
