I kinda agree with him and I have to say it's why I'm such a fan of Sony, they do take risks with new IP's like LittleBigPlanet and ICO to name only a couple.
The thing you have to remember about UC to UC2 was that while Drake's Fortune was a stuning looking game, KZ2 was imo much much better (still I want to stress DF was fantastic looking, absolutely fantastic) in terms of graphics and everything else that was going on so the jump that Uncharted has made was probably more likely.
I think that KZ3 will have a fair improvement, more than Gears 2 to Gears 2 but not sure you'll get the kind of jump you're hoping for.
Of cour...
Yeah man the Killzone story is pretty deep and interesting, reading the lore on the website always made me wonder if it was the ISA who were really the bad guys and the Helghast the victims, pushed too far and the war being the result of that.
Actually I'm going to have to disagree with the author orf this article.
The reason is from the sounds of the game I wasn't all that interested but when they showed gameplay from the guy cop or whatever's visit to the scrap yard, escaping from the car and then fighting the guy, that got me interested in the game and eager to know more about it.
I completely agree that criticism helps when it is taken on board but that criticism has to be both constructive and relevant.
That article on Destructiod was anything but.
Are you saying that the PS3 version of Prototype is ahead of inFAMOUS on Amazon.com? Do you mean in the US?
The US isn't the only country in the world mate, nor is Amazon the only outlet that sells video games inFAMOUS could very well outsell the PS3 version of Prototype on a WW scale.
Now I'm not saying it has or it will but your argument is so incredibly flawed it's ridiculous.
The online component of the game will probably be very very good like MW1 but I doubt it'll do anything groundbreaking.
The single player campaign will be more of the same.
Yeah Thom I agree, no matter how good MAG looks, Modern Warefare is now an industry and genre beast and any shooter released around the same time as it will get eaten alive.
No games on latest CryEngine = no place in list
I read the article and I agree that Sony were incredibly arrogant and smug but I don't agree they are still that way. I think they have been humbled and are now just working hard to be the best in the industry.
For me, Sony are the best in the console industry because I don't allow sales figures to dictate my thinking.
I'd love to see what someone can do with an engine worked from the ground up based solely on the 360 architecture and it's strengths.
Halo 3 was the flagship title for the 360 and as such was visually embarrassing, not just because it ran at a sub HD resolution but it just didn't look anything like as goos as say Gears of War (the first one) and a fair few other games.
I definitely agree the Naughty Dog Engine 2.0 deserves the #1 spot and that the KZ2 engine ranks a very, very close #2.
Can't wait to get my hands on Uncharted 2.
God of War hasn't been completed yet so it's a little difficult to judge it's engine. Although I agree the game looks amazing and clearly has a hell of a lot going on in it.
Maybe once that game has been completed and released the engine can be considered for one of these unofficial awards.
A December release for GT5 would be pretty killer, it'd shift so many consoles and so many units of the game. If you added a price cut to that it'd be a pretty monstrous holiday for Sony.
I think the only multi-plat games whose graphics have truly impressed me are Assassin's Creed and RE5.
And 360 might get slightly better looking multi-plats but they're not leaps and bounds better in the same way the Sony exclusives are over most other games.
Should have added a proton pack and gun the way they added a gun with the MGS4 pack
I'm with you mate, the Fury pack will be my next purchase I think.
There won't be a demo, the guy on the PS Blog stated that a few times in replies to people.
I'd have loved a demo to see if the game might be worth shelling out for.
I agree it is a little high, a demo for the game would have ben very useful as it might have been able to sway a few people to pay up, me potentially being one of them.
I don't think I'd want to fork out 17 quid for the game that might be hit or miss with me because from what I have seen, it looks interesting but not enough to entice me into buying it, a demo may have helped as would a lower price.
I think overall the pricing of the game is a little high, not just in...
I just got me a nice paying job (albeit only a few months contract) but I kinda wanted to set aside some money for a PSP Go (upgrading my PSP 2000) and was undecided but I think I've just been sold.
Smaller games and apps is a great idea and is something Sony should have been doing long before now really.
And wow, 50 studios working on PSP content? That's fantastic.
