I once stayed up all night in bed playing Plants vs. Zombies on my iPhone. Other than that, I agree with the article.
Some wounds never heal. *sniff*
Before we hated Activision, we hated EA. It's cyclical. I don't think it's so much being anti-establishment; the top dog is under a microscope and business is an ugly thing.
That concept is, unfortunately, counter-intuitive to making money. How frequently we forget this is a business.
Civ Rev was a pretty decent game on 360. Even a watered down Civ game still has some depth to it. I really enjoyed multiplayer, but the games could still take a couple of hours so randoms would never stick around that long.
Very exciting news!
I have easily over 20 hrs played in Magicka--not a ton but it goes to the point--and I can't specifically recall any technical issues with the game. I realize that, these days more than ever, we are subject to buggy messes at release only to have them patched later, but if you are having trouble getting a piece of software to run at all, I suspect you may have some other issues to investigate.
The majority of your review is relatively positive, until you throw down with t...
Very interesting read! Back in the 80's and 90's, gaming felt like much more of a niche, or a club. You felt like you were part of something special and underground. The industry, and we gamers, are so different now.
Everything is monetized and marginalized and capitalized. Business got in the way of our club. We were stripped of the closeness, the camaraderie, and instead handed mainstream accessibility and marketing.
It warms the heart to see the co...
Same, gonna be my first PSN (SEN?) purchase. :D Been following this one for a while.
Yeah why are western devs so afraid of technology? I guess they want to keep everything accessible, on PC specifically, but it's sad to know how amazing things *could* be if they weren't always catering to the lowest common denominator.
So sick! Been waiting TOO long for a new SSX!
Yea me too. Dance mod had me rofl'ing.
Finally Kinect has its killer app.
This is an extremely well crafted, albeit late, response to the Miyamoto retirement scandal of 2011. Seems to be almost a tactic of Japanese companies, to claim miscommunication and take their time releasing a well thought out response. I laughed when Iwata mentioned the internet being a scary place (friend codes lol). Miyamoto is an icon of the industry, no doubt.
I've tried doing this a few times, most recently last summer when I replayed the first few on GBA/DS. It's tough man! Best of luck.
@maawdawg You really can't compare the resale of intellectual property to a commodity like a car. The factors and consideration that goes in to purchasing a $20,000 vehicle are nothing like that which one encounters when purchasing a $60 video game.
More to the point, what you fail to acknowledge is how a publisher sees a used game sale as a lost sale, thinking that if the consumer wanted the product and a used copy was devalued in some way (ie: lacking content), the cons...
TimeSplitters 2 would be on my list, but I can't argue with this one.
LittleBigPlanet MP is hella awesome when you're drinking!
Come on, that corporate simulator part was funny.
I gave up crack for this game.
Not really, but it's addictive as hell! The game. And crack. Don't smoke crack.
