The easiest way to understand what he's saying is to compare to movies, a more established medium with much more diversity. You can see a movie like Shawshank Redemption, or American History X, and while it's not really what you'd call "fun", it is still a deeply rewarding and thought provoking experience. I think that's what he's going for.
I can't wait to get the XL. Been wanting a 3DS for a few months but figured I'd wait for the larger screen. Looks like a huge (pun intended) difference. Everything I've read says there really is no loss in quality, and the 3D effect seems more pronounced on the XL.
The nightly news in any American city is for more terrifying than any episode of Raw is War ever was.
Censoring chants/signs etc is pretty stupid if you ask me, but I don't see it breaking the game either.
Western censorship is all kinds of ass-backwards. Nothing new here.
I don't have anything against Gamestop (EB Games here in Canada), but I find Wal-mart consistently has better prices and stock availability.
I would actually say Gamestop is more valuable to the non-hardcore, like a parent looking to buy a game for their kid, since the staff can actually give advice that I wouldn't expect from a larger department store.
Comparing Steam to Xbox Live/PSN is pretty much apples to oranges.
Trust me, I love PC at least as much as you do (Master Race et al), but Steam is a digital distributor of games, and an online community of gamers. Xbox Live and PSN offer a lot more in terms of a total entertainment package, with movie, tv and music features galore.
Both services are fine; I was a long time Gold subscriber, which I have let lapse in the past year. I have also had a PS3 for several years.
The nice thing about Xbox Live is how well it integrates with everything else Microsoft has going on with the Xbox. It's undeniably easy to grab a couple friends to chat, jump in and out of games, browse for DLC, watch movie trailers, stuff like that. What I don't like is that a Gold sub is required to use other paid services suc...
Not true. Canada in general, and B.C. to a lesser extent, is a very popular location for development studios, due to many incentives on both the provincial and national level.

This list needs more:
Vyse from Skies of Arcadia
and
Balthier from Final Fantasy XII.
Pretty sure fans didn't want SW:ToR to be more like KotOR. They (we) just wanted another KotOR.
I haven't played ToR after being turned completely apathetic by the beta-I know, don't judge a game by it's beta-but if it really is going F2P, I'd at least give it a look.
Great article. Bravo!
Any undue loss of life is a tragedy, no matter how asinine the circumstances. It should definitely be policy in these internet cafes to instate some type of limitation to the time one can spend in a single session. That said, people do need to respect the limits of the human body, and exercise some moderation. Sad story all around.
Been there many times. I think partly it's due to the availability and ease of access I have to games now, versus when I was a child. I'm not wealthy by any means, but I can (and do) purchase just about every game and console that I want, constantly looking for that "amazing experience" that I remember when I was a kid. The problem is that I don't really feel a commitment to finishing anything anymore. If the game I'm playing just isn't doing it for me, I'll ...
The lack of a publisher?
I <3 Terraria.

I really don't have a problem with GFWL. You don't need Gold to play multiplayer, and it's nice to say hi to my Xbox Live friends that I only see for a week every year when Halo/Gears of War comes out.
I think it's the players of MMO who sort of force the games to become grindfests. I doubt it was really foreseeable that people were going to spend hundreds of hours a week playing the same game. With that type of time investment, it's pretty tough to keep content fresh. Thus, to satisfy the players' demand, and to keep them invested in the game, the grind was born.
The mail room just hasn't been the same without you.
What's wrong with Xenoblade Chronicles? It was pretty much perfect, imho. I played the EU version; not sure if there were issues with the NA release.
Definitely something that will appeal to fans of Diablo and Diablo II. I had a chance to check it out a bit over the weekend, and wasn't able to put much time in to it, but what I saw was pretty impressive.
