Depends on how you look at it. It's Nintendo's next generation system, yes, but it's also Nintendo's way of catching up with Sony and Microsoft. It's not exactly exceeding current gen technology. At least it hasn't proven that it will anytime soon. And knowing Nintendo....Wii U will use friend codes ~_~

It's silly for people to say things like this. If you don't want to play anymore games like Demon's Souls and Dark Souls, then don't play them. There is no point in hoping no more will come out when there is a decent fanbase. Nobody is forcing you to play.

That is essentially remaking the game. They've added new animations, are revamping the entire landscape, the experience system, quest system, recipes have just been revamped, new special effects, etc. They game is pretty much being made from scratch based on what it needs and what fans are raging about.

Honestly, although XIV isn't in the best shape, I still find it more entertaining than XIII and XII. SE are making some pretty amazing improvements. Sure these things should have been there since the beginning, but it's better to get them late than never.
Most people that complain about it are either judging the game by review scores from last year (before the revamp was even started) or going by what others post online.
