Windows XP was extended for super low cost PC's/laptop's due to the fact that those computers are so cheap they can't run a next generation OS like Vista.
XP is the smartest choice for a low cost computer obviously.

Yeah. All it does is hurt Vista more then it should. It creates the illusion that Vista is worse then it really is. Which isn't a great thing to do to a product that actually is good, but has it's faults right now.
