"BANDAI NAMCO Games America Inc. stands with what’s been shared by the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) regarding GamerGate in that threats of violence and harassment are wrong. They have to stop. There is no place in the video game community—or our society—for personal attacks and threats."

Notice the use of the words "in that" which means in relation to "threats of violence and harassment". Bandai Namco may make games that we like, but ...

Glad I waited and didn't buy Ultimate.

Colbert is nothing. I'd like to see her talk to Bill Maher and see how she comes out. He seems to have less tolerance for ignorance than Colbert.

Had she actually behaved like a decent human being from the start and tried to gain success through hard work and determination instead of gaining positive press through "favors" for game journalists, GamerGate wouldn't even exist and the corruption that plagues journalism would continue to fly under the radar. The biggest problem she and her friends have now is that Pandora's box has been opened and it can't be closed again.

So, when should we expect the feminists to come to her defense and raise a fuss about her right of self expression? (crickets)

There's a reason why Newsweek's numbers have dropped substantially, not to mention the fact that public trust in mainstream journalism has also fallen. Mainstream "news" outlets are just as corrupt as the so called game journalists, if not more so.

While GamerGate may seem like a petty thing to some people, it's a sign of people not wanting to accept this kind of behavior anymore and actually trying to do something about it. The idea that this may wake u...

How about a game based on the old GI Joe cartoon to make up for all the terrible movies they've made recently?

Newsweek? I'm guessing the mainstream media is trying to kill this movement before it grows big enough to affect the lack of ethics in mainstream journalism too.

I'm a fan of the Harvest Moon (now Story of Seasons) and Rune Factory games, so I know I'll probably have to pick up the Nintendo systems to play them, but I also like the Persona and Yakuza games too, so I know I'll need to get the PlayStation systems too. If I didn't want to pony up the cash, I'd have to choose one or the other, but I buy my systems for the games I want to play, not brand loyalty (although I do appreciate Sony's trend of keeping their systems region ...

Maybe they should start having requirements like journalism degrees. Considering the issues that exist within modern journalism as a whole though, I doubt if that would fix the problem.

I agree with your comparison of them in relation to fantasy football experts, but maybe the issue in relation to that is that fantasy football experts are not paid as much, listened to by the NFL, or considered to be the voice of their medium like gaming journalis...

Journalism in America sucks. There really is no other way to put it. News companies care more now about money or their political connections than actually reporting the news and being that extra check on the government like they used to. Nixon may not have been a good man, but Watergate was child's play compared to what's gone on under the last few presidents.

I'm surprised you've just now lost trust in the Huffington Post and especially the New York Times, co...

Don't forget that Anita is also using all of this to get money for doing as little work as she possibly can. I'm surprised she was even asked to speak at a university. I guess the guy who holds a "homeless, please help sign" during the day and drives home in his BMW at night was busy that day.

Oh, and the threats supposedly directed at her were investigated by the police and declared as not of any real consequence, but she refused to speak after police refus...

It's a call for more accountability from so called game journalists. Many of them have been caught mixing business with pleasure and instead of owning up to it, the so called game journalists are saying "no big deal", calling gamers misogynists and also declaring gamers to be dead, which is not only ironic, but extremely pretentious on their part.

I just wish people showed the same level of concern for journalism in general, considering how interconnected politi...

The role of true journalism isn't to agree or disagree with anything, but to simply inform the public about what is happening in the world in as accurate a way as possible. People who spout their opinions on topics are known as pundits, not journalists.

The media lives off of people who consume it. Stop visiting these sites and reading their stories and they will starve for attention and eventually fail. This goes not only for corrupt gaming news sites, but also corrupt journalism in general, which seems to be rampant in the western world these days.
