I applaud this article, but in the end it shouldn't be necessary. It's common knowledge that Battlefield relies on "realistic" gameplay and teamwork, whilst Call of Duty is more about fast, arcade like gameplay. I like both styles.

On PC you always can. =)

The dedicated servers are UNRANKED!

"Does Modern Warfare 3 on PC support an in-game Server Browser? Can you also use matchmaking?

Yes! In addition to the public matchmaking system for finding Ranked public games, you can use the in-game server browser to find and favorite unranked Dedicated Servers to join, which can be filtered by a number of options mentioned above."

IW, blow me.

Technically, Modern Warfare 3 is still based on the id Tech 3 engine, which dates back to around 1999.

However, the code has been rewritten so many times by now that IW, or SG for that matter, no longer needs to license the id Tech 3 engine and it can be considered to be a standalone engine.

So yeah, MW3 uses a 12 year old engine. It's not like this is anything new in the industry to be using a heavily modified and updated version of an older engine.

I'll admit, it made me laugh. Great one!

Of course Call of Duty is the bigger franchise based on sales. But sales do not equal quality and that's what some people are forgetting.

I'm fine with it as long as there's content to justify the extra prestige. I hope they didn't add another prestige just for the sake of it.

Agreed. Arkham Asylum was my GOTY 2009 and Arkham City will be it this year.

You wrote an article about MW3 and BF3, yet you expect this not to end up in a flame war? Good luck with that.

I will be playing BOTH games, because yes, that's also an option, which most people are forgetting. I can't tell which game I'll be playing the most, though.

I strongly disagree with Dead Island and RAGE being horrible ports. I own both games on PC and they perform a lot better than most ports. Sure, they have (had) their issues, but things have either been patched or modded by now.

The only reason this article reached 50 degrees is because of the thumbnail.

Admit it.

I'm inclined to "Agree" with you, but that might make me seem like a sadistic bastard.

I remember reviewing this game when it first came out. I regret that day... T_T

So, this article took two quotes from Carmack out of context and therefor "PC's are Gaming's Black Sheep"?

Last year Carmack said he underestimated the growth of the PC's power and therefor regrets not making the PC a priority for RAGE, instead of consoles.

I just love typical PR bullshit that's interpreted as "facts".

I can't wait to purchase this! The first time I heard that soundtrack in the Caspian Border trailer... Goosebumps all the way!

In my opinion a "10" doesn't stand for perfection, but for the very best a game can offer in that particular genre at that time.

In other words, I could definitely hand out a 10 to several games. Take Half-Life, for instance. In my opinion that game still offers the best experience in the genre, therefor earning a 10.

This is just typical PR. Basically, a console could never be maxed out. There's always this tiny little thing that could be optimized just a tad more to improve this or that.

You're absolutely right; it all comes down to the developers. Most hardcore Wii games barely tried to do anything special with the motion controls.

One great example of proper usage is IMO MadWorld, a game that makes it fun as hell to swing around your WiiMote.

If developers can really improve the experience with the tablet, that would be great.

Even if I don't like the term, I consider myself to be a "hardcore" gamer and I'm more than willing to use the tablet. It allows for the entire hud to be placed on the touchscreen.

This opens up tons of gameplay possibilities. Imagine Batman: Arkham City with all your gadgets selectable on your touchscreen or a multiplayer game where you can communicate easily through commands available on that very same screen.

I hope it works out well for ...

The 3DS is more powerful than the Wii, no doubt about that, but I'm more concerned about the controls. I think it's just an error.
