GAMESCom (the successor to Leipzig Games Convention) or Tokyo Game Show are more likely and possibly: Games Convention Asia
and in the long shot places for announcements:
E3 and Games Convention Developers Conference (GCDC)
*REMEMBER*
this is japanese release list not NA...
so FFvs could be out much later unless you can read Japanese.
Also this list is constantly in flux as developers can move dates depending on developmental priorities.
In other words - this is a good list but I would say expect 80% accuracy for release dates not 100% and US dates are significantly different in most cases.
Hmm Smed is a major reason SOE lost market share... I do not respect the man at all and his decisions are in many cases uninformed.
Has a Japanese release date of Feb 2009
the latest info / trailer is May 10 2008 - so yes it is still on track.
Tenative Japanese Release Schedule:
(THESE CAN AND WILL MOVE A BIT YET like Valkyria Chronicles is listed wrong but this is official as it gets for Japan - it is also missing at least another 35 games that I know of...)

- 5/15 Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian -- 5 / 15 Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian

these guys need to do more research (or at least use google Oo)
tenative release date
Feb 2009
Resistance is almost 4 million
3.8~ at last offical release numbers
almost 2 million in the first 6 months of the PS3 (when the install base was less then 4 million) It has continued to sell well since that time and has chalked up approximately a million sales a year since.
It's innovative
in it's weapons
in it's gameplay
in it's AI
It's fun
It's great Multiplayer
It has a great story line
To say that it can...
Merrit - it's not the changing of the game that is the issue
the thing is you still have to stop what your doing to join it.
EXACTLY the same as you do on the PSN. You have to stop and switch to that game (get a message in game on the PS3 - exit read and start new game...)
Saying it's a great feature for Xlive and not for the PSN is not logical is all.
@lostyourMARBLES
you do realize that the 60v60 is not a run and gun thing but a orchestrated coordinated assault system with the computer directing squad targets and reinforcements etc?
Think of it as 10-15 smaller battles over objectives with an overarching theme .
if 60v60 is purely chaos with no strategy I guess modern warfare is pointless as it almost takes 10 people to get 1 person to the battlefield and in battles combatants usually number in the hundred...
POT KETTLE BLACK
Hmm you did miss the message that R:FOM sold 3/4 of the numbers of Gears on a console with 1/5 of audience when it launched right?
I would say that Resistance is a proven IP as the attach rate was almost 3x that of gears...
Bingo...
it's nice to have but in all honesty many of us never use these so called "CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT" features.
The turn based did add a tactical element that seems missing from a TP or FP game. One of the reasons it was selected in the first place. It removes the value of many of the coolest perks as well if you leave strategic turn based gameplay.
Xcom did turn based as well - give a muc more strategic gameplay rather then twitch gameplay. (and when xcom left it - the franchise died)
otoh with only one other in your group rather than a whole team like the older fall outs...
people also forget that the game is programmed originally in DX so it does take extra effort to convert it to openGL
Oo... that's cool... 0.1? how did I do a reply to a nonexistent post?
people really can't take a joke eh montralien....
guys cut out the disagrees on him. - Mont is right in this case and it really does make you go buggy!
I know when I learned asymmetric and symmetric multiprocessing algorithms my eyes went buggy to... still am walleyed from the effort. LOL
I would say the gap is closer to 40% if you use a dedicated programmer team and don't try to "level the playfield" as it were. But since all developers try to create level playing fields across similar generational consoles when creating crossplatform you get the minor 1-2% differences.
Similar to the ps2/xbox multiplatform situation... the Xbox was approximately 40% more powerful as well but due to crossplatform requirements it most of the time didn't show.
...
Hmm never played the PC version.
They have a mechanic that works 5v5 for a RTS? Most RTS would die from that situation.
Guess I will pick up it for the PC to see what's up.
Just means that there are programmers out there with the skills to create great games on PS3 - but they probably are not PC programmers.
developer skill
streaming textures
deferred rendering...
all make DX10 effects possible ... technical trickery > most computer issues.
"Turn-based combat is just another unrealistic way to represent real actions, but this system focuses on planning, tactics, and resource management much more heavily than action gaming. It's anything but boring."
This is something I have argued many times and yet there are gamers who do not listen to the reasons for it.
The following games used Turn based combat systems in spectacular ways
Fallout 1/2
Xcom 1/2
Jagged Allianc...
