I tend to think that they over topped themselves with that statement because it is a fair 1st person shooter - not great but fair
1st person shooters R:FOM, UT3 are better Ao2, Blacksite, Turok are worse so it depends on what you compare against.
best shooter bar none on any platform is Warhawk
or 4-5$ if you rent it... skip coffee for a day

just an average game... oh well average for FM > then good for brain training games!
Story - well it was predictable and not engrossing
Gameplay otoh was not bad and once you use the harder settings the game comes into it's own...
I wonder if the reviews would have been higher if they had dropped the lower settings and started you on what is hard to begin with.

I would call it an average shooter
if you define average as 5 then lots of games need to be lowered but since most reviewers use a 4 point scale with 7 being average then Haze should be higher.
Blacksite better then Haze?????
and to imply Viva Pinata is a bad game?
wow... either you have never played them both or your very very dedicated to Blacksite and can't appreciate Viva Pinata. I myself would not own Viva but it is a great game for it's target audience (Of which I am not)

It's a great idea
It cuts done on moderation efforts and reduces the abuses that were and still are seen in games like warhawk and cod4.
And to ThePatriot - you will soon level out of the room you are into to a higher level if you play, that way you move to a level that is challenging to you.
It is technically better and I find it fun
but the storyline is weak very weak.
All in all I recommend playing the Multiplayer side... asymmetric warfare is fun but the coop with mandatory wait till the cut scene is done is bad.
they should have pulled a Warhawk... pulled the Single player campaign and gone pure online madness. The asymmetric warfare would have been their differential over other online shooters.
Singstar really is fun... and honestly it is huge worldwide
After playing the game
single player - story is WEAK... painfully so
but the graphics are better then many are saying and in some places are down right excellent (average graphics for an FPS I feel)
Multiplayer is great - the asymmetric mechanics are fun and lead to definitely different tactical situations
Co-op... is ok but you have to suffer through the storyline again and you can't skip cut scenes (this game would score a full point higher from me If I ...

Microsoft probably (99.8% sure) had nothing to do with it.
They probably didn't shill the score out - but I bet that they lowered it to be more in line with other reviewers because it looked like shilling for Free Radical even though they thought the game probably deserved more.
I actually respected the 9.5 for GTA IV... which lasted an hour or so....
and a 7.5 for R&C:ToD is just harsh.
Multi is where is it at with this game...
Single Player is bad - but not for the graphics - they are actually quite good (on par with most shooters) and in places amazing but for the storyline... it's like going to a movie you hated and had seen before but for some reason you went again to see if the story somehow got better.
but multi is fun (don't get sucked into the story mode - you can't skip cutscenes in multi Oo)
The expansion is really nice and helps the game alot... surprised they didn't release it with the expansion in the EU as a bundle.
