For any hardware to succeed no matter how good the tech is it has to have the games to back it up. Right now Kinect just doesnt have the games and with MS leaning so hard on the Casual they are looking to lose their core market as well with it. right now this could go either way but with what they have shown I think it may be a quick death.
MS should have been buying up more 1st party studios a long time ago instead of trying to rely solely on timed exclusives from 3rd parties and DLC. They really seem to be after the quick buck instead of taking risks that could pay out huge. But because of these decisions it could not only affect the 360 but Kinect as well. They are trying to grab at again the perceived quick buck with the Casual market but it doesnt really have a game that really says Im a must buy. It is the 1st party studio...
With the games they have shown so far I doubt it will reach this high. They dont have any game yet that has that wow factor enough to draw in even the Wii crowd right now. Also with MS trying to focus on the casual more than their core gamer base they risk alienating them as well. And a lot of the potential sales could be lost before Kinect even hits the market because Sony is beating them to the punch by almost 2 months. The next year will be interesting to see for both, but it will be the g...
That was an interesting read. Funny how things have really turned around. I especially liked the part in the article where they stated that no devs would want to spread the processes across the SPUs. Seems most of the Sony 1st party studios have really proved that wrong and shown that the PS3 is the stronger of the two consoles. Bubbles for you for posting this.
Anyway Im looking forward to Killzone 3. I loved the 1st and 2nd ones and eventhough I didnt play the MP much on KZ...
I think this article just goes to show that MS really doesnt understand their core customer base. They havent shown one game that would honestly appeal to the core gamer and even now they are saying instead of using Kinect to play the types of core games that are most popular on the 360 they want to do new things. Well that is all well and good but instead of saying what you will do how about try showing it instead. Right now all they have shown are casual crap that has been done before and d...
Im a member of a PS3 gaming clan called MAAN. It stands for Married And Always Nagged so most of us there know all about how to handle being gamers and being married. Some of our members have qives who also game. My wife is in fact big into MW2 right now. Because of her gaming though we have two PS3s in the house so that we can both game at the same time. It can be quite hard to get your wife or significant other into gaming. But if it gets too bad just remind them that instead of sitting in ...
This could very well be true but will anyone care in two years? Also will sales be high enough for Kinect to entice 3rd party companies to invest the time and money to make a game exclusive for it? Right now I kind of doubt it. MS really should have thought about this a year and a half ago at a minimum and had studios working on more core titles alongside the casual games. But there major issue is that they just dont have the 1st party studios necessary to really put out games that will utili...
Im excited for Move. I like a lot of the casual games they have shown for it. But Im even more excited for games like SOCOM 4, Killzone 3, and Dead Space Extraction. Motion controls are here to stay but Sony has learned that the best route to go is to support both a standard control scheme and motion controls for their games. Also because of the large number of 1st party studios Sony has and the increase in 3rd party support we will be seeing some very good games coming out for Move.
All I know is if they allowed everyone to game online for free but charged for the features you get with Gold then Id go out and buy a 360. Id probably even be inclined to buy into Gold as well depending on how good the features were. But right now despite the 360 having quite a few games for it I want to play I wont buy one. I just cant justify paying 60 dollars per game with most games having multiplayer, Id only be able to enjoy half of it unless I forked over more cash for Gold.
I hope he pulls through this ok. I loved the Tester and had no idea he of what else he did besides play games.
I fail to see the big deal. They made a deal to make ONE game for a new IP multiplat. They still have the new studio here in NC to keep making games as well. They also said they would continue supporting the resistance and ratchet and clank franchises on the PS3 so we will also be getting exclusive games from them. Hopefully though this will prove very successful for them so they can keep making great games.
Later this year Netflix will also be able to be accessed without a DVD so I fail to see your point on that. Also having a headset with every system isnt always a good thing. Granted Ive bought one for my PS3 but I also only use it when I want to talk to my friends or if my teammates in a game will actually use strategy. I dont really want to hear a bunch of whiny 12 year olds cussing me out because they got beat. Some of the features may be worth paying to use on Live but Netflix and online g...
PSN is just the better service. One of my most used features outside of gaming is Netflix. Right now of course I access it using the disc but later it will be an app in the XMB. The best part is I can use it for just paying my netflix subscription. To even use the same service on the 360 you have to pay for Gold. Also with Hulu Plus coming out PS3 owners will only have to pay for the subscription for that to use it. Again on the 360 you will have to have Gold when it comes out for it next yea...
Its Pre-Alpha code and the destruction suffered from a bug in the code that made it just disappear instead of break apart like it was supposed too. Anyway this game will be a blast to play and look great as well when it does come out next year.
I loved MGS 4 and Im looking forward to Rising. I do hope he does make ZOE 3 as well and I dont care if its multiplat. I just want to have it come out and play it on my PS3.
I never bought this because I was more interested in Modnation Racers. I havent regretted that purchase once since I got it either.
This is good news. We are already going to see some of their input this fall when Move releases. Its already being integrated into some more Core titles and with Dead Space Extraction being ported to the PS3 we can see Sony went out to 3rd party devs with it early as well. The real key to Move will be the titles developed by Sony's 1st party and the 3rd party Move titles built for it in the next few years. Move will keep the PS3 alive a bit longer than previous gens. But when we see PS4 b...
It would be nice if they made online free. I dont have an issue if they did that and chose to charge for the extra stuff. I could then justify buying a 360 to play many of the games exclusive to it that I want. But as it stands now I wont buy a 360 due to paying 60 dollars for a game and only being able to enjoy half of it if I dont pay for the online play.
Well at least Insomniac will also still be working on PS3 Exclusive games. Instead of relying on Multiplat titles though maybe you should be telling MS to get more 1st party devs for true exclusive games. But we know how well that works for them. They have a studio like Rare who used to be amazing devs and now they are relegated to making Kinect shovelware.
Your right that core games do take awhile to develop for new hardware. I think MS really is putting the Casual market ahead of the Core and even with what they have shown the casual games dont look good enough to really grab someone off the street as a must buy. Many say that both Sony and MS should stay out of the motion control market but Sony has been working on this for a long time and even the launch titles show that. The devs that worked on Sports Champions stated they have spent over a...
