Well said
I am actually really disappointed with the games released in the first year. Both XB1 and PS4.
To be be completely honest, this gen has been crap so far and a huge waste of money. Every gen has a slow start, but this has been the worst I can remember.
How anyone can celebrate sales numbers is beyond me when the number of real top quality titles is negligible I just dunno.
Awesome... An unannounced game is already getting negative articles.
I only played 1 and 2 but I enjoyed them.
For me the one thing I'd like to see improved is the AI. There were so many moments where the otherwise fantastic action was slightly marred by stupid AI.
I definitely preferred the atmosphere of Gears 1, and wasn't such a fan of Gears 2. So I hope they get the story telling and tone right.
I don't think we should be 'glad' any of these failed.
Every one of these consoles tried to do something different. So their good points and bad points will have influenced other manufacturers and lead to either them not repeating the same mistakes.
I quite liked the controller with the weird number pad.
Worked great for selecting weapons in Doom and Aliens versus Predator... Two of the best games on the system.
On Amazon UK The Order costs £45.70 - which is almost $72
So yeah, this gen, games seem to be offering less and costing more.
I like both equally.
I prefer to play Heroes of the Storm, but watch LoL. Mainly because I find LoL a bit unfriendly to learn and play as a noob, and the community is pretty toxic at times.
Heroes is more team based from minute 1, but it is definitely a 'my first MOBA' experience compared to DoTA 2 and LoL. But that's cool, as once I am 'good' at Heroes I will likely move in to LoL and DoTA.
In terms of hardware I don't really care as long as every headset does the job well.
I can't use Oculus on PS4, and we don't know if Morpheus will work on PC (and even if it does will it be supported). So I'll probably end up buying a Morpheus as long as there's some good games that use it, and an Oculus or Vive dpeending one which is better.
I am very much looking forward to playing Elite and Star Citizen using a VR headset. And if No M...
This video successfully illustrates the problem with the gaming hobby right now.
Idiot trolls people on Live so he can post it on YouTube for 'entertainment'. Happens to get 'lucky' by antagonising a racist asshole.
Wonderful. What a great time to be a gamer /s
Tarnishing Batman's image???
Has the author not seen the TV show from the 60's! Or the travesties that Joel Shumacher inflicted on the world. Or the epic(ly ridiculous) Bat-Mite / Bat-Hound storyline! Or Kevin Smith having Batman tell a story about when he pissed his batsuit!
Even if Warner released a pay to win mobile game where Batman fends off rubber sharks with a repellent spray he happened to find in his utility belt while Robin tweaks his rubber...
I'm still hoping Morpheus can work on PC's. That would seal the deal for me. I don't really want to spend on a Morpheus and a PC specific headset
The difference is that a TV is a purchase most people make every 5 or even 10years. The Morpheus is a peripheral and will likely cost much less than the original prices for 3D TV's.
But what it will really boil down to is the price point, quality and quantity of games. If Sony make compelling titles, people will buy Morpheus, especially if it costs no more than other 'non-essential' entertainment devices - like a Vita, 3DS, peripherals.
Sure... People buy phones for $600 - but buying a Morpheus that costs MORE than a PS4 is not really going to compute for most consumers.
EDIT: But then again, what Sony consider 'low price' and what consumers consider low price may be very different... The PS4 seems perfectly priced - but PSNow seems really expensive to me... So Morpheus could go either way.
I really hope it can be used as a static screen for non-VR games.
Yeah, I think you are likely correct (unfortunately). :)
£150 is wishful thinking. Considering one DS4 costs over £50 in the UK I can't see the Morpheus costing the same as 'only' three DS4's.
There is probably more tech and higher productions cost in Morpheus than a Vita, and they retail at approx £150
So over £200 seems likely, £250 is realistic - but as I mentioned before, £150 would be really...
TNO was one of the most surprising FPS' of recent times. I went in with no expectations (as it came free with my XB1) and was blown away by how much fun it was, had an interesting (if clichéd) story, and a really long campaign.
Glad to see a prequel is coming soon.
That would be nice...
I'd pay up to £150 - but anything more and I'd have to see a significant number of top quality games work with it to make it a worthwhile purchase rather than an impulse...
This is a good question.
Looking at the price of the Oculus dev kit, it's pretty clear that these devices are not going to be cheap - so people will want to use them with the widest number of titles.
FPS, driving games, flight games are a no-brainer. RTS games could be good as looking down on the battlefield would be neat. Sports games could be interesting (First Person view in Madden, FIFA, MLB : The Show etc??)
I think that in 3rd pers...
There's very little they can do to eliminate this. Some people are hit buy it, others are not. Having a high refresh rate will definitely help.
Also, one of the other things VR headsets can do is leave a gap at the bottom of the device, so the player has some visibility of the ground. Apparently that works for some people.
I believe the Morpheus allows people to either have a gap, or not - so Sony are doing what they can to reduce the the problem.
Games being delayed for improvements is a good thing. But that doesn't mean I'm not sick to death of it!
Right now it seems gamers have two options - 1) Buy broken games that need massive Day 1 patches, or months of effort to make them work. Or, 2) Wait and and wait while games get delayed and roll the dice whether they are any good or not.
I know that is an exaggeration, but I've not bought a AAA game for my PS4 since inFamous. Everything since ...
