Simple: Where in any of the dockets does it say that he was not allowed out of the country? It's not like anyone told him he couldn't go on a holiday or something! Kind of bad timing, yes, but...who said he couldn't legally go anywhere?

EDIT@DISAGREES: Then tell me WHERE did it even say that?

Or did you just hit disagree because "OMG, he's defending him again! GET 'IM!!"

No. They'll just sue him!

The problem is that the "hardcore gamer" seems to come off as someone who thinks that the gaming industry is only there to cater to them, and that the industry better not, for any purpose, go out and try to corral anyone else. If they do, it is a sin to which there's no repenting from. Sadly, this is a reason why gamers are seen in such a bad light: it's because they act like that sometimes. Of course, this is the select few who DO this, but they're just so goddamned LOU...

So you post the exact same comment you posted on THAT site on this site, which is making the assumption that no one clicked the link, and this story, to anyone that didn't click it, makes it seem as though the story is going to defend Geohot. Probably to flame bait. All with a firm misunderstanding for most of this ordeal.

Some people just amaze me on this site!

I'm sorry...but WHAT?

So the only articles you want to see about modding/hacking on this site are the ones that support your POV? Are you seriously trying to pull the "censor" card here?

Sorry, but that's not how things work around here!

And, let me get this straight: according to you, the only one ever posting hack-related stories are the anti-Sony fanboys? REALLY? Are we THAT ignorant?

Never mind that Sony never HAD OtherOS in the Slims, LONG before Hotz became interested in the PS3!

Or did we conveniently forget that part? AGAIN!

5419d ago 1 agree2 disagreeView comment

Never mind. You took that out of context. That's a quote from Sony's lawyers, who also wrote the first two claims to get these subpoenas. They've seemed to cherry pick the facts and opinions that they want to say and deliver to everyone, so I would be weary of anything coming from them.

EDIT: The FULL statement that shows that the statement DID come from Sony's lawyers:

"There is also some clarification in the court transcript (from Sony...

But does that mean that we have to tell Sony every little thing we ever do with our LIVES because they want to make sure they can have an easier time extorting money out of someone that did something they didn't like him doing?

If they KNOW they have a case, then what difference does it make WHERE they have the case? The law would be the law regardless of jurisdiction. They either want to make him use all of his money to GET there, or they think they can convince a CA jud...

Hmm...I wonder.

Did this site (and this N4G submitter) just troll N4G hard?

Think about it: Some people refer to Geohot's jailbreak of the PS3 as a mod. Many on N4G want him stopped by any means necessary.

Gamestop sells this, and the site thinks that they might be sued. The very same people who want Geohot sued now come out in defense of Gamestop (kind of surprising seeing how many on N4G loathe Gamestop, too).

The amount of corporate humping on this site is literally astounding!

They ask for IP addresses without limitations? We cheer them on!

Now they want Paypal records without limitations? We STILL cheer them on!

Try to win by attrition instead of proving their case correct? CHEER THEM ON!!

Is there ANYTHING Sony will ask for in this case that you WILL draw the line on?

Seriously, I've seen corporate hugging ...

I'm not saying that. Note that I said CIVILIZED way!

@Pozzle: Well, I think more needs to be done. Someone needs to get on their asses and tell them that they CAN be replaced, and if they don't listen to the masses, they soon WILL! I wouldn't underestimate a minority if I were them!

My God!

My question would be if there was anything the people could actually DO about this sort of thing that would at least tell the government over there that they are not going to take their gov't acting like the parents. I'm sure there's SOME civilized way they could show that these people are replaceable (only issue is the risk of having people exactly like the ones they are replacing...well, REPLACE them).

I'm actually writing this in the hopes that someone on N4G's mod team gets the message and tries to get a handle on it. Not holding my breath, but I'll say this:

HINT: I'm on a bit of a campaign here to do something ABOUT those kinds of people. ^.~

Yes, they can, and in a way, they already have. Hotz' view is that the DMCA exception for smart phones should've been applied to more than just smart phones, and if you're intentions are legal, then why shouldn't you be allowed to do it? The releasing of the root keys seems to be the elephant in the room, but at the same time, what drove him to do that? The OtherOS issue is a weird one, because many feel as though Hotz was the reason why Sony removed it, but you can also argue...

But since I have a bit more space, I got this PM from morganfell 7hrs ago:

The problem with your statement, though, is that the DMCA was changed, via petition and probably influence from court cases, to include smart phones. The reason why nothing else was included in that is because the petition was for smart phones, so other electronics were not considered at that time. Had they have been, I bet you would've seen a good bit of consideration to it. I don't know if the DMCA CAN change again since I've heard something about them only able to consider chan...

If hacking WAS illegal, then all those hackers that companies hire to keep their systems safe should all be arrested right now. Think before you troll!

@solar: Yes, I've seen PS3 fanboys act like morons on other sites before about this Geohot thing, but those people aren't wishing physical harm or making homophobic comments about him, and there seems to be a case of people willing to LISTEN to others.

N4G seems to be a unique little snowflake, though....

This is because you're, what, the ten MILLIONTH person who has asked those questions, and it would be the ten millionth time we've ANSWERED those very questions? The answers never changed. It's just the wording of the questions got more clever.
