I'm glad their weekend deals go until Monday, because I have been patiently waiting for a discount on this game and I hadn't checked my RSS all weekend. So first order of business at work this morning was to scoop up Tropico 3 for later!
Scientific American and Mass Effect together in one place? Worlds colliding right there!
My eyes aren't the best, and neither is the resolution on the images, but it looks to me like it expires Jan 1st 2012. That's not so bad, provided thats the real date and that I can actually make out that text..
Well, it isn't a Fallout MMO and hopefully it isn't an Elder Scrolls MMO. I want more Fallout and Elder Scrolls, but definitely not in MMO form! If you take away the single player campaign from those games, you take away almost everything I love about them.
dgroundwater: Don't say Canada and the US are the same thing. Canadians define themselves primarily by what they are not (Americans) and therefore don't like being lumped together with them - even though what you say holds a lot of truth.
(Full Disclosure - I'm a proud Canadian)
Honestly, their marketing just seems like over compensating to me.
Once again I'm in agreement with dchalfont. Games that I am excited about and plan on buying, I buy physical copies. Heck, even a lot of my impulse buys are also physical copies from discount bins or amazon sales. While some places may have decent telecom competition to have decent service without ridiculous bandwidth caps, some people (like me) are stuck with 60 gigs/month - which I share with one other person. And while 60 gigs is quite a bit, some months it isn't enough and adding a fe...
Not to spoil things for you, but that's the joke.
Follow the link and read it. It's pretty funny and good for a quick chuckle.
Daver, your warrantless cynicism is pretty impressive.
Then don't buy it. I just think it is strange they they are talking about adding more content and you are complaining about being hosed. I'll agree that I'm not excited to shell out a lot of money from my wallet, but if it is worth it, then I will happily pay. If it is a rip, then I won't. But right now it seems like it will be pricey, but there will be a tonne of quality content.
Quality > Speed.
Enough said.
Anyone actually surprised?
Seems like an odd time to start a Beta, doesn't it? Why not wait two weeks so that it's the new year.
Plus, there is this:

If by 2009 you mean 2010...
But that throws your timeline off.
I think partly it has to do with the story. Your story will be better if you plan it as a trilogy and then make it one. However, if you plan it out and then tack on another at the end, the story can often feel tacked on. Part of the reason why sequels to movies suck so many times - because they weren't originally planned but tacked on as an after thought. Thinking about it and executing it as a trilogy makes sense.
The inventory was the one thing I hated in the first. It drove me crazy how impossible it was to sort through your inventory to find things and get rid of things. It felt really clunky and annoying to me. I know people complained about the elevators, but I would rather have a decent inventory system and have the same elevators than the other way around.
I didn't really see a huge problem with the combat in the first one - but that doesn't mean I'm not excited that they have improved ...
I have to figure out which one of my saves I want to continue with. I played through a half dozen times as I wanted to explore things on my own without any spoilers and so I did things really differently in several playthroughs. I have a male and a female shepherd and a few different classes as well. I think I'm partial to my badass female shep, but I still have to choose between the two of them!
ME1 was sure worth every cent for me and I can't imagine it will be any other way for ...
Totally agree. It might not be the prettiest, but I don't think armor is supposed to be pretty. It looks pretty damn slick though.
I think of all the video game series, a fallout series would be the most interesting and so my interest is peaked.
However, as with most video game movies - they are reserved only for Bad Movie themed events. They should only be watched with lots of beer and mocking. I hope a fallout movie would be better, but I won't hold my breath.
I've got my money on Kane not being human. Otherwise how has he not died?? He can't be real!
It would also explain why they said that they "can't say we're killing him off - we're doing something with him" Can't kill off someone who isn't real.
