I think the real question is whether the Vita will reach the numbers of the PSP. If it does i assume Sony would consider that a success.
No handheld since handhelds were first introduced will be able to reach the numbers that Nintendo ones do. They have the history dating back to the original Gameboy. No other company has come close but Sony is the first to make a significant dent in the market that Nintendo absolutely owns, and that is a win for Sony.
It's more like a Idol Master game. Where you take one of the girls and 'manage' them through their career. Setting up concerts, picking their stage costumes etc.
It's technically not really a rhythm game like Miku where you have to hit buttons in accordance to a song. In Japan they call games like Neptunia PP & Idol Master 'raising simulation' games.
Interesting a game like this is coming over cause normally the west rarely sees Ja...
They do it's called DLC ^_^!
Seriously i can't imagine how crazy a Disgaea game will be like on the PS4. Hopefully they keep the sprites but give it even higher res, or they can do 3D models for the very first time.
Love the different dynamics of the game. Although a lot of it is very familiar the idea of being able to get both the infected & humans go at each other is a genius game mechanic.
Ellie & Riley are both lovable characters & their conversations in the game are bitter sweet knowing what will happen when all is said and done. If you liked the puns in the original you'll love them more in this!
NISA you are absolutely the best!!!!
Fairy Fencer F, Disgaea 4, Battle Princess Arcadia, & Dangangropa 2! The JRPGs overload is mind blowing! I will buy all of these in a heartbeat!
This is where Pachter is wrong about Playstation Now, the limitless potential it could have in the android market if done well. Sony's library of games is huge dating all the way back to their PSone days and the ability to open that library up to a new generation is huge.
Imagine games like Jumping Flash, Jet Moto, Wipeout and all those classics running on your phone. With the potential for PS4 games in the cards as well.
Pachter is skeptical of 3rd parti...
Actually if done well it's not too bad. Take FF type 0 for example, the game also dealt with the mythos of FF 13 but unlike 13 it was easier to get into cause the story was well written with likable characters. So it can work.
Nomura has a much better track record than Toriyama in telling a story and making a good game so hopefully his reputation comes through.
You do know that Sammy owns Sega right? In Japan Sammy is huge cause they make all those Pachinko games.
However since Sega is a bigger name internationally than Sammy, the company is using it at the forefront. So when Sega bought Atlus it was actually Sammy who are the real player.
So it is possible that Nintendo buys 'Sega' but highly unlikely cause of Sammy.
I agree with you but Toriyama only wrote the story for the game & it was the sole reason the 3rd Birthday left a bad taste in many fans mouths.
If it wasn't for Tabata's direction with its solid gameplay the game would've been even worse. Tabata had to work around such a terrible story to make it at least respectable.
The thing is that the PS4 was made as a gaming machine first with the media stuff as bonuses. Sony has advertised the system to play games as its most important function.
However ever since Microsoft debut the Xboxone they trumpeted it as an all in one system with media being the main focal point. Right now it is a rough start for a system that is supposed to be the center piece of the living room.
Both have Some work to do but more so for Microsoft since med...
They know that the console generation is a marathon not a sprint. They should exactly why with the PS3, working really hard to overcome a near disastrous start.
This gen having the early lead in both sales and good publicity have been easier to manage for Sony. However like John Kollar said they know they have a lot of work to do to maintain that good vibe they have gained with the PS4.
I expect many great things for PS4 owners, it's gonna be a fun ride....
This is what happens when a Japanese developer tries to hard to westernize their games to appeal to a wider audience instead of catering to their already loyal fan base.
Squarenix saw how popular linear shooters were in the west and made their bread and butter similar in format. I said it many times on N4G that by itself the Final Fantasy 13 series are good games but they bare the Final Fantasy name. With that name comes greater expectations and in many the 13 series just did...
Hahaha! Knuckles is taking this 'My body is Ready!' way too seriously!
It looks interesting. It is being made by some high profile developers & Sanzaru is very good at these types of games (check out Sly Cooper Thieves in Time to see why).
Sonic is in need of some invigoration in his games so maybe having Sega try something different may be a good thing.
Like many have stated already in this thread, it's not that 30fps games are bad, far from it. The issue is that a cheaper system is running games at higher frame rates than a system that is more expensive.
When we see multiplatform titles run better on the cheaper system than there are some issues with the system that is more expensive. When the more expensive system is having trouble with an enhanced port of a last gen game like Tomb Raider, one has to ask the question ...
The framerate debate matters cause for the majority of last gen the gaming media & Xbox gamers made it a big deal. For years the PS3 was scrutinized for having inferior multiplatform games. People made fun of games like COD, Bayonetta, Crysis and many other titles.
However do you know what PS3 gamers didn't care. Even with these inferior games they still bought them in droves. Bayonetta the broken mess sold more on PS3 than it did on the 360. COD one of the most succe...
Of so why isn't Phil Spencer heading the Xbox division as a whole of Microsoft instead of being just having a job like Shuhei, running only the 1st party stuff.
Spencer genuinely is the only guy over there trying to build the library up of Microsoft games. He seems like the kind of guy that can shape the Xbox into something that Sony and Nintendo both have, a strong 1st party ecosystem. The backbone of a successful console is its 1st party studios, without it there is no ...
You could tell from the get go which console was going to be the more preferred console by developers.
Just look back at each of their debut conferences. Back in February last year when Sony revealed the PS4 all they talked about was games, how easier developers can make games & the vision Sony had for the PS4. Developers raved about the 8 GB GDDR5 memory that surprised many of them.
As for Microsoft their vision for the XBoxOne was really different &...
It seems to me that Japan votes on these on whatever is popular at the moment. I remember when Lightning won the last poll around the same time Final Fantasy 13 came out. So i take these polls with a grain of salt.
For me Aerith is my fave lead heroine in the series though i have a soft spot for Terra from Final Fantasy 6.
A joke eh Pachter?
It's a joke that when it was reveled at CES playable and it working?
It's a joke that since the beta began we've seen videos of it working quite well.
It's a joke that Gaikai who has proven to be reliable & received a Guiness World Record for its online infrastructure.
Ok Pachter whatever you say.
I'm very disappointed in Colin in his written preview of the game. Does he not get that what was shown is only a glimpse of what the final game will be? Does he not get what was shown is probably not even 1% of the game?
To complain about the frame rate, the BRIEF look at gameplay, & other little things that don't mean anything at this point in the game development....Colin should know better.
Ready at Dawn didn't even have to show anything ab...
