Wow, I didn't know the PS3 could play ROMSs right out of the box, or that owning a Wii somehow prevents one from ever playing ROMs.
EDIT @ below:
Exactly, you have to set it up. You can't pull your PS3 out of the box and immediately play ROMs. In fact, setting up the PC I already own to play ROMs is far less tedious, so why tout the PS3's ability to do so?
The DS can already play movies, but I don't think Nintendo would ever make that functionality available by default.
PS2 - 42.2%
Xbox - 13.9%
360 - 11.8%
GC - 7.1%
Wii - 5.5%
PS3 - 2.5%
Other 17.1%
How are these "console minutes" measured? Why doesn't the chart include PSP and DS figures, which I assume comprise a large portion of the "Other" category?
Could I start by stating how utterly shocked I am that a Sony chairman would say that the PS3 is "infinitely more fun" (lol) than the Wii, and follow that up w/ an account of how surprised I am that a PS3-obsessor would call on me to comment on such a statement in a news thread already dominated by ppl who would build up his ego by agreeing w/ him?
OMG Maddens you're so bold!
/sarcasm
I'd approve the story but as TnS has rightfully pointe...
I "flail my arms around like an idiot" the few times I play the Wii, and wonder why everyone else is able to sit down and use small flicks of the wrist to accomplish the same thing onscreen while watching me make a fool of myself. I'm butthurt because no one let me in on the inside joke, so I'll just make fun of the graphics.
Agreed, I would think that managing VC releases separately for all regions just means more work for Nintendo.
Anyway, region-locking, the Photo Channel's switch to AAC from MP3, and Nintendo's stance on why the Wii doesn't need a hard drive currently top my "WTF Nintendo?" list.
How many attempts did it take for you to beat Bouldergeist's daredevil run?
I agree that there are many horrible Wii games out there right now, and I think we can safely attribute the slew of early-on bad Wii games to devs trying to make a quick buck on the Wii craze which they had hugely underestimated along w/ the fact that the Wii introduced an unfamiliar control scheme. In addition, the PS2 did not sell as well as the Wii has in its infancy, and as a result did not attract as many developers early-on and did not have as many games in general its 1st year as the ...
Sony allowed plenty of garbage on the PS2 but look where it stands as a console.
I don't think Mario Galaxy is as much for kids as it is kid-friendly. I remember being a teenager and being attracted to games that contain violence or speed but I'm now in my mid 20s and Mario Galaxy is definitely one of my favorite games right now. As a bonus, my kids would be able to play it if I had any.

The Wii has more 3rd-party titles that've sold over 1 million than the PS3 so if 1 million units is such an important number, why would 3rd-party devs choose to make more PS3 games?
Hitting 1 million units isn't the ultimate metric for software sales.
I believe than channel's already out in a Japan. Don't know when it's coming to NA or EU tho.
Ghouls 'n Ghosts is "next-gen"?
EDIT @above:
Which confirms my insinuation that being "next-gen" really isn't all that important in the grand scheme of things.
Doh!
*checks online prices for classic controllers*
=)
Is LBP still set for a January '08 release? This game if any will be my reason to get a PS3. Can't wait.
*hint hint* lol
=D
Whoa, I'm really liking the music for this game so far.
