I said it a month ago once Toshiba did this promotion this would be the price of the player and the next 3 gen ver as well.
I doubt it simply because most will say you can use a iPhone daily but you can't use a PS3 daily(unless your just Hardcore Gamer)
Will BD plus work on older BD players?
I know it requires a VM/key exchange handshake, but I'm not sure if you can do this with current BD players.

All the HD DVD discs cost more because you can play them on HD players and reg DVD players.

You do realize extra content gets made for some movies later on after the initial release.
Have you never seen movies getting re-released 1 yr later and they all tend to claim more extra features.
Star Wars is a prime example. Every yr extra docu's get added.
This yr all the coverage of the SW at 30. That 4.7GB disc by it's self.
Now make all those features HD..and it may fit on DL DVD-R.
I probably have about 5-6 DVD R full of SW extra con...
Nice. With this and Toshiba making the $100 deals permeant price changes now this is a good deal for all preceptive HD DVD buyers.
I'm a big fan of extra features or value added features.
Nintendo basically has 80%+- of Hardware and software sales this week.

Funai already said $399 for this fall BD players. I can't call that cheap when you can get a Toshiba HD player for $299.
I'm willing to bet the HD player hits at $125-199.
Actually BB has been closing stores in the SE due to crazy competition between it and MG(Movie Gallery new owners of Hollywood Video).
Hell MG will take any BB coupon. BB closed two big stores last yr.
We have one small one left but they plan on closing soon too.

I favor HD DVD because I like the combo disc/players can be updated/ low cost players/less DRM.
What I don't like is the price of the movies. Sell them all day, everyday at $19.99 and I'm game.

Either way Warner is smart...they make money on DVD/BD/HD sales...everyone else is only hitting HD and DVD sales.

You do realize the iPhone uses solid state NAND flash chips right?
Meaning no moving parts = it costs more.
You also realize a 2.5 SATA 200GB HDD will cost you $200-300 bucks on avg.
