The online connection isn't a problem at all.
It's just that the content itself isn't worth full price.
Games like Uncharted 4 have a full-blown single player story AND decent multiplayer.

This is the best thing that could happen to this industry. No more hitting the reset button every 5 years. This means higher game sales and a more unified console install base. (We all know that one guy still stuck with a PS3/360)
This way even if you don't want to upgrade to a new console, you can still play the latest games with your friends.
