Hence why I play games on easy nowadays. Not because I dont want the challenge but because I have limited time and plenty of games, I dont want to keep dying and retrying the same level on a game. I want to finish it and move onto the next.

Theres a bigger gaming market allowing for games to cater to different target demographics. If you want hard games, its still being made and available to buy.
Licensed games should be treated as any other AAA titles, given enough time, a solid budget, and a competent developer.
If you license a game out to some unknown developer with limited time and a tight budget, then you're practically begging to make a crappy licensed game.
That's where alot of common sense is lost to Television/Film/Franchise companies who think making a game is an easy task.

I agree with this. Most of its just cashing in on franchises, paying more attention to gameplay, graphics, and fanboy pandering than trying to portray something unique.
However games like Journey show that there are a few cases of interactive art.
