The remarks made by Yahtzee are generally intended to be insulting and funny at the same time. I frankly don't get the joke as I don't associate color with money or buying consoles. Better choice would have been "Not so ghetto as to only own one console" as ghetto has a clear contentation of being poor. But then again, I don't think it is all that funny to make fun of being poor - most college students are poor at some point. Idiots (aka fanboys) are about the only thing I reall...

price and games matter. If you can get the waggle controller along with some cool game for a reasonable price then it will probably sell halfway decently (several million at least). Golf fans would flock to it (the Wii graphics looks so child-like - cannot see how anyone can stand it). How hard would it be to allow use of the waggle for some arcade games?

I think it is a decent idea - look at the success of Rock Band and Guitar Hero. All you need is the right game and you a...

The whole point of parkour is that you do cool moves - if the game is in first person then you cannot see the cool moves and who gives a crap about the game? Think I will pass unless you can view third-person.

But I don't know - GTA 4 is great but I would kinda like to see something different in the future. As realism increases you eventually cannot help but be put off by killing innocent people - it will just seem too real. For example, a lot of people thought Gears of War was depressing because it was so immersive - but since you are killing aliens it doesn't bother one too much. Start doing that to innocent people and you are going to have problems.

Anyway - while GTA 5 may com...

This sounds like it is coming along well - the fact that they are in crunch mode is a little concerning since this is supposed to come out in Oct-Nov time frame - seems a little early for full-boar crunch but I guess they know how much needs to be done.

Anyway - definitely on my list of highly anticipated games - I hope it improves on Fable 1 in every aspect but time will tell.

I have tried a couple and just couldn't see the fun - but one man's fun is another man's work so I just don't worry about it.

I suspect the real issue with the reduced sales is that people have seen what can be done in a action game - you can add RPG elements and a story so that it becomes much more than a twitch reflex game. In some respects I think JPRGs are stuck in the past and need to complete change the way they approach gaming.

But hey - if people like th...

If you go and read the paper you will realize several things:

1) The ability of the Cell to handle the particular software problem at issue has little relation to the issue of handling gaming code.

2) There is a point made that the software has to be specifically optimized for the cell architecture - so basically it requires software developers to reinvent the wheel for every algorithm.

Basically this article reinforces what everyone in the know ha...

Absolutely correct - there are a huge number of tools that exist that can be used to access data once a officer has physcial access to the machine. This is really a non-starter but since it is MS there is a typical backlash.

Seriously, even those with encrypted hard drives are susceptable to someone obtaining the passcode off the memory if their machine is up an running. Hackers have had these tools for years - it simply makes sense to allow the police to have access to them ...

I think the whole thought about give the graphical nod to the PS3 now sounds a little silly but it is irrelevant - everyone that has reviewed has agreeded the game is great and who know what version of the game everyone was playing, what their connection was (HDMI vs component vs VGA), etc. And the personal preference for blur has to come into play as well.

So enjoy the game with the understanding that it is going to be an amazing game for everyone involved.

I enjoyed the prior games - my only complaint was that they had little replay value - once you solve a puzzle doing it a second time just isn't a big deal. So I want to make sure there is more then 8 hours of game play before I decide. But if it is 10-12 hours for a good gamer then I will be happy and grab it - I normally increase the time by about 50 to 100 percent because my playing time is usually limited to an hour or two at a time, once or twice a week.

The bottom line is the Wii lacks sufficient ram to do much of anything other than cartoony graphics. The PS3/360 can also do cartoony graphics and I don't have to wave a controller to puch a button - I can just efficiently push the button.

So the fact that the engine can do this still won't help the Wii put out decent graphics - everything is still going to look last-gen. And once you have an HD display - next gen graphics are the only way to go.

The only thing unfair was the product that was released on fans as compared to what was expected. This is one of those times where I am glad I listened to reviews. Oblivion was excellent (except for the leveling issues).

Still - if there are significant improvements than I will probably pick up the second one - I like RPGs.

Of course being number one is irrelevant, in and of itself, but the reality is that the number one console tends to lead in development of third party games. And why should anyone aim for the number two spot?

I do agree with his point about wanting to be profitable but beyond that Pachter doesn't seem to know what he is talking about. The reality is that MS is in gaming because PC gaming is fading, sales of OS systems are not going to be as strong in the future (most people b...

Where either you love or hate it. Reading the interview this games sounds like it is not going to be a system seller, instead, it sounds Deus Ex like. I am a little concern that perhaps it is going to try to please everyone and in the end please no one but it is possible to make a game that satisfies a number of people with different playing styles. However, often the truly great games have a limited appeal because they are too hard core for most.

The graphics sound like the...

While I appreciate the power in the PS3 and XBOX 360 - they both fall short of allowing developers to do what they want. Everyone would have been better off with a more powerful dual-core CPU. The problem is that Intel owned the IP for that and MS found out the hard way that if you don't own the IP you cannot reduce the cost sufficiently.

Or to put it another way - I suspect we would have a lot more powerful console if we all had 2.4 Ghz core 2 duo chips. Out of order instruct...

MS has a patent on custom sound tracks in video games - it will be interesting to learn if MS gave its blessing to this or if the developer is designing around the patent or just infringing the patent.

More often then not they show you enough to say "no thanks" and if they are good then they are already going to sell on word of mouth.

Best idea from a developer standpoint is to wait until the game ships then work on a demo. But I like demos - they save me money and time (I don't have to rent to see if the game is worthwhile first).

This "buyer" is not an analyst and his "personal" friends are relatively irrelevant to the big picture. I want my wasted minute back.

My two cents are that this will have a major impact on the console war by not having a major impact - in the past GTA provided a boost to Sony - this time it is much more likely to provide little or no boost - relative to MS. But I suspect a number of people will be buying this along with their first console so it should bum...

The initial version of the PS3 played better but subsequent patches also provide that same optimization for the 360. Bottom line is that neither platform is as easy to program as a PC but once you figure it out you can do quite a lot. So basically, Bethesda has figured out how to make both platforms sing.

If they can avoid the issue they had with the strict leveling of enemies in Oblivion (probably brought on by the fact that you can go anywhere and they wanted to keep thin...

I am not sure Acer will help matters but I could see MS trying to move to a OS for the console and provide the on-line support for $50 per year and let others make the hardware - even if MS only makes $20 dollars per console on the OS, the yearly support and the number of consoles would be enough to make it worth while. Really, MS and Sony should do that - let Sony make some hardware and MS make the OS - there is no reason to have two consoles with such similar performance capbilities - it j...
