I don't understand why it's called a "space sim" when it doesn't even have a realistic simulation of space. There are no star systems - you don't see the star the planets are orbiting. The planets just float around next to each other like you're in a big space-themed aquarium. The galaxy map has a horrible UI and it's very difficult to tell what direction you're going, or where you're supposed to go.

The article is so biased. The N64 classic is the only Nintendo classic console I'm really interested in, and only if it has Perfect Dark 64. IMO it's a must have title - it's the best shooter on the N64 and easily one of the best shooters ever made. The article doesn't even mention it. Did the author even play an N64?

Yup. Looks a lot like FTL. Which isn't bad, I liked FTL even though I could never beat the final boss.

What I would like to see is a game in this genre that lets you build your own mothership in an editor and then test it out in the game.

I was able to mod one of the ships in FTL so you started with a breaching drone and some kind of flame laser, so you could deplete the oxygen aboard other ships right from the start. It was fun.

It's a 2D Black & White. I will probably give it a try, depending on the price.

I wish GOG would get Black & White on their storefront. I still have my discs but can't get it to run on Windows 10.

It's garbage and I haven't even got $1 worth of good gaming from the $60 I paid for it. I'm still kicking myself for buying it at launch.

It hasn't had any AAA titles from Nintendo except Breath of the Wild. I don't think the new Smash has enough of an attraction to drive up demand. Or any Mario title unless it's a new Mario Maker.

We likely won't see a major boost in sales until they release a new Zelda, Metroid, or Pokemon on Switch.

Or a new IP with that same level of mass appeal. (it's about time, really)

I hope starfield isn't a repeat of NMS. I've become absolutely jaded by failed space sims.

If the whole thing is hand-crafted like Star Citizen is, maybe it will be good. But I'm never buying another procedurally generated sim again. I will not be pre-ordering it.

IMO the gamecube controller is the best controller Nintendo has ever made. It's your standard twin stick controller, great for FPS and everything else. My one gripe is the C-stick has a lousy grip. I would get analog stick replacements and replace the C-stick with a second gray analog stick.

I'm excited about these, because you can use them for both Switch and PC. They also have 4 shoulder buttons, instead of 2 shoulder buttons and a Z-button like the actual gamecub...

Sounds like a 3D version of Happy Wheels. Can you make your own courses?

I don't agree with it. If they let corporations re-copyright material we're going to see an explosion of mega-corporations in the 21st century as they fight to gobble up all the expired copyrights from the 20th century. Lawyers and big business will own all our ideas.

I would rather see it all enter the public domain. Let the people have it, so indie devs and small-timers can work with it as they see fit.

I think it's possible. The reason being Nintendo killer apps are not like the killer apps of other systems. People buy an Xbox, and get Halo for it. People buy a Playstation, and get Uncharted for it.

Nintendo is different.
People buy Pokemon and get a Nintendo for it.
People buy Zelda and get a Nintendo for it.

I did the exact same thing for Pokemon Red and Game Boy, and again with Pokemon Silver and GBA.

At $30, I think I will get two so I have a back-up. If they support xinput they should be plug and play for PC right? I've been wanting to get a xbox controller for PC but since these should work just the same, I might get these instead.

I was hugely hyped up for Doom 3 and was only slightly let down by it when I actually got to play it. It wasn't bad, just different from Doom 1 and 2.

I was hyped up and hugely disappointed by Duke Nukem Forever.

I was hyped up and disappointed by No Man's Sky.

I'm trying to think of a game I was hyped up for and not let down by. I remember pre-ordering Tales of Xilia and really enjoying that - one of my favourite JRPG's...

It looks like Bethesda is going to follow the same life cycle as Blizzard, EA, and Ubisoft.

Game companies start out as a small group of developers with a common vision. They make a good game that's fun to play. It becomes a cult classic. They hire more devs, make bigger, better games that become AAA bestsellers. Then the company grows so big it takes on a life of it's own. Soul-sucking vampires (marketing advisors) decide that they know better than the developers, ...

I could see him capturing kokiri and locking them up in his basement, refusing to let them out until he gets his own fairy. The whole game revolves around his obsession with getting a fairy and escalation of the horror until he realizes that goal.

I would play it. Why not? I think we all suspected who Tingle really was.

I'm glad I got to play online and do a few invasions before the servers went down. It's sad to see such an awesome game lay down to die. Part of me wants to do another playthrough, but it won't be the same without the ghosts and messages.

I hope there is a rerelease or remaster or something at some point in the future.

Personally I would rather have the NA artwork. The Europe one is good too.

Pixel art is okay, and I like a lot of retro games, but in this case I like the anime style art better.

I've bought a couple ships, but not any of the thousand dollar ones. I've backed kickstarter games before and I know these take years to make. An MMO like Star Citizen will take even longer.

I don't understand how you could back at the thousand dollar level, and not be patient enough to see it through.

It's still in alpha, but it looks good for an alpha. I can't wait for it to enter beta and we can explore all the star systems. So far ...

If the gaming device uses DVD's or Blu-rays as the media it's games are sold on, it's not a gimmick. Especially if the media has advantages over previous media, like transfer speed or storage capacity. Back in the Ps1 era Ps1 CD's could hold more data than N64 cartridges, but N64 cartridges had better load times. Neither was a gimmick. They each excelled at what they wanted to do.

Motion controls are a gimmick because games play better without motion control...
