What pisses me off more than anything is these will be used as an excuse to vilify the game genie or any other cheat device.
Back when NES and SNES was a thing, game genie was practically required for your console. Every kid wanted it, and it added 200% more fun to your games. The gameshark 64 was especially fun. I remember making my own codes and creating messed up weapons in Perfect Dark 64. THAT was fun. More fun than a trophy could ever give me.
I wan...
I would rather not have them. They are just a way for losers to compare their epeens with each other. Games should be played for the fun, not collecting X number of stupid things.
My friend demanded that I 100% RE5 with him. We went through shooting all these little blue discs in each level. It was monotonous and stupid. For years and years I've only needed 1 more trophy to get the plat. It's called "Who do you trust" and apparently it's an easy one bu...
My opinion of him has risen since this happened. I hope he says the n-word more often.
They really aren't that expensive. I just did an Amazon search and found a 128gb micro SDXC card with 100mb/s transfer rate for $45. That's less than the price of a new game these days.
If I was able to get a Switch, that's probably the card I would get for it, and I would probably never run out of space unless I got really crazy with downloadable games. But I would rather have cartridges. They last forever, have great load times, and can be resold if you don...
The N64 cartridges were far superior to the Ps1's CD's when it came to transfer rate. In addition to a faster transfer rate, solid state memory also has no seek time. On mechanical drives you have to wait for a reader to move into the correct position over a platter to even start the data transfer, during this seek time the transfer rate is 0. On the playstation 1 you can audibly hear the whirr of the optical reader moving back and forth. That's the sound of inefficiency.

SD cards are dirt cheap???
You pay a little more for good cards with a faster transfer rate, but it's worth it to avoid the slow loading times on playstation and xbox consoles that still use disk drives.
I'm ecstatic that Nintendo has adopted all solid state memory for the Switch. IMO this is more important than the graphics or processor. It's possible to make a fun game without loading it up with eye candy, it's very hard to make a fun ga...
3x more still wouldn't have met demand.
Maybe 30x more. Maybe.
It will be impossible to find. Nintendo won't make nearly enough of them to meet demand.
The Switch is still impossible to find, and that won't change over the holidays. I cringe every time someone says "Nintendo is ramping up production" because I and everyone else know knows Nintendo realizes it won't be enough, just like it has never been enough before.
My prediction: For at least the next 6 months the average person will only fin...
It entirely depends on how many units they can manufacture. I think they could sell 20 million the first year but they won't manufacture that many. There's certainly demand for it.
No console has been out of stock this long before.
Nintendo should be embarrassed. The poor supply of the Switch is unacceptable.
I wonder what it's like to have a new NIntendo console? It's been a long time since I last bought one so I can't remember. The way things are going I'm never going to find out.
Remember when people were getting arrested fighting over tickle me elmo back when that was a new holiday item?
I'm predicting murder this holiday season over the Nintendo Switch. Not fighting, murder.
100% true.
And they're doing this on purpose. Nintendo doesn't care about keeping customers happy, they care about the fantastic headlines about their newest thing selling out each and every single time.
If you're at a LAN party, it's easier to just talk to the people that are in the same room as you rather than try to use a headset.
This is why no one should pay for Nintendo Online. Ninty is marketing an online service without any online features! No voice chat, no game lobbies? These are mandatory for a game company to call online service "online service". What Nintendo is offering is "offline service" and they should be sued for false marketin...
They'll make 20 instead of 10 this time!
WTF?
Seriously WTF?
I've been trying all day to get one, and it's sold out every time.
This article is 17 minutes old, and I'm too late.
WTF?
Fuck you, Nintendo.
Fuck you, Amazon.
Fuck you, Wal-mart.
Microsoft Game Studios has a well-established history of killing off good IP's. These days the only PC development going on is for Minecraft (I think?). But back in the day:
Acquired FASA game studios (Mechwarrior and Shadowrun) - dead. (Shadowrun recently revived from the dead through Kickstarter though)
Acquired Digital Anvil (Freelancer and Brute Force) - dead. Freelancer was awesome in it's time but was rushed and reduced in scope because of M...
I'm not a "contributor" so I can't approve, but this is a worthy article for discussion.
I agree with the author. Nintendo knew this was in high demand, but manufactured only a few of them. Why? Because of the headlines. Every time their new thing sells out in less than a day, it gets them free publicity and makes their stockholders feel better. Nintendo stock value increases, people at the top get richer, and they don't care if they piss off the major...
I got an email notifcation from Wal-Mart 53 minutes ago that it was in stock. Nope.
Fuck you Nintendo.
Fuck you Amazon.
Fuck you Wal-mart.
I was on subject. You're not the sharpest tool in the shed, are you?
