truth is graphics are very important, they rank up there with gameplay. imagine two people getting the same corvette with the same color but one of the paint jobs is a little bad, performance wise they are the same but obviously the physical appeal of the car is also very important. i havent played the demo myself but the screenshots have the forums on fire. There is clearly a difference. However, bear in mind, the people who took the screenshots might not have appropriately setup the setting...
I believe that eventually the COD franchise will fall, we've seen this kind of stuff with the Halo franchise and Final Fantasy for its respective genre. Innovation that appeals to the the COD audiences is the key to bringing down COD. BF3 is an attempt however, will fail taking a small market, that can be assured to all those claiming BF3 being the best thing ever, look again lads, we all seen it before. i wouldnt agree with that, in fact thats not true at all: GTA4, Halo 3, GT5, MGS4, Killzone 2 all sold really well. The two that haven't been released yet, LA Noire and FFVersusXIII probably will sell well considering their respective studios. APB, Shenmue and Too Human are the only failures on that list.
no doubt the 3D viewing experience is pretty amazing, i recall playing the apocalypse demo at my local best buy in 3D, however, until they don't get a glasses free experience it won't become a norm.
as you said, the best selling tech demo in US history, doubt it falls under a full on 60 dollar game.

Patch is comin today or tomorrow i think. But i love the game, love warzone and operations, im pretty sure GG will change there mind about adding Operation maps later. BC3 will take a small part of the COD market this but again there IS NOTHING THAT CAN OUTHYPE OR OUTSELL anything that has the label Modern Warfare. Killzone 3 FTW though.
Expectations continue to mount for these games, its gonna be tough to meet them. They shouldn't have annouced FFV13 till like last year, 6 years development may work aganist them.

This list is accurate, whether you define the top ten as best selling, most popular, or even in terms of quality there is no denying what these franchises have done for the industry. I will also defend COD and Halo. COD4: Modern Warfare is a critical milestone is gaming history that changed video games forever, it was the ultimate multiplayer and fps experience that has changed how games are designed today, so no doubt it exceeds anything any other franchise has accomplished.
