Whoever spent a $1000 on a document for rumored specs got scammed. If anybody can send me that person's email I have a bridge to sell them real cheap.
As for Navi arriving in a console capable APU prior to 2021 is just pure fantasy. First, Navi doesn’t get an architectural reference release until late this year. And that is for OEMs to designs cards from not for consumers. So, mid-2019 is when you will start to see full PC cards using Navi chipsets. You know the type ...
You obviously know do understand how machines are engineered. There is no slapping together off the shelf parts. Did it cost the same as developing a new generation? No. However, the Pro definitely cost a pretty penny (definitely more than a dime) to engineer.
Thank you. I wasn't going to waste my time going through that ad fest.
As for the 15 features you mentioned:
1. No dah. Wait, does anyone actually think Sony would release a device without a better GPU and CPU (APU)
2. I hope at least PS4 BC . I worry that Sony may not do BC in order to prop up the PSNow service. Unless they change PSNow to allow for downloading like GP or the services goes back to supporting other devices (TVs, ...
I am tired of the PC represents the best experience. That is patently false for most PC gamers. You do realize the PC more likely represents subpar gaming than any other platform. The variety of system setups lean more toward the bottom capability of gamers on the PC not this imaginary belief that everybody has a 1080/1070. Yes, that rare gamer that spends $600+ on just a graphics card can tell us all that they can get the best gaming. However, most gamers on PC (according to Steams own nu...
Would that be a bad thing? I hope it is essentially just a PS4 Pro 2.0. Meaning a large jump in power (CPU/GPU/Memory//Storage) but the underlying OS and development infrastructure is the same ( which will also give us PS4 BC). I don't want this old generation start from scratch mentality to happen anymore Starting from scratch will just repeat the 3 years it really took for the PS4 to really realize its potential gaming prowess. Developers will once again have to rework their process...
It is more amazing you have been tricked into your thought process. The process where there actually has been a dramatic decline in investing in the infrastructure since 2015 when the much heavier regulation took over disguised as this modern net-neutrality. Prior to 2015, there was very light regulation (as created in 2005 under Bush) or practically none at all prior to that. But somehow, prior to 2015, we all survived the far less intrusive hand of government intervention and the internet ...
I recently had Comcast (prior to my move last year) and there were no data caps.
There is nothing wrong with data caps that are sensible. What is considered a base cap could over time be adjusted by some form actual sensible government regulation set a basic amount for normal usage. I suspect most of us here would exceed that amount in my scenario. Perhaps that has to be looked into what sensible and normal. And we can have the very basic level regulated. But, that is ...
You are being misled by all those lefty pinko commie outlets :) It is true that there was regulation of the internet (essentially net neutrality began in earnest under Bush '43 in 2005). You know one of those that damn right-wing Presidents. But, the heavy hand of government has weighed down too much to one side since 2015.
That is the problem when there too overregulation with something that really needs a lighter touch that same pendulum swings back just as hard th...
The X uses checkerboarding for some games; for games taking the time developing the enhanced version, the X does 4K fairly easily. The Pro not so much and that is not even taking into account fidelity of the graphics. What happens when the PS5 arrives (what I assume will be a 4K machine) and it has games that require checkerboarding to reach 4K. To act like it won't is like pretending games on the PS4 are always 1080p without exception. And we all know that is not true. As you argu...
I could go over each of your list points. Some make sense and no arguing with them but, many are just wrong. A couple caught my attention the most.
"SONY is primarily in it for the market share and game players and game developers. "
Let's be real. Sony is in it for the money too. It is not a secondary thought, it is the primary motive by far for Sony. Both of these companies, actually any company wishing to actual survive, the customer a...
Well, it probably means you won't be gaming for much longer on anything (PC or console), This is the direction headed for consoles (PS or Xbox). Of course, any console makers that provides only a digital-only console today would suffer greatly. But, not for long. Like it or not I suspect any next-gen console from Sony or Microsoft will be the last with physical media. Even with the next-gen, all this talk about all digital device could actually be a viable SKU. And as the clouds capabil...
Sony is a minor player in the BDA (they represent about 15% in Blu-Ray contribution.) Transitioning people from disc to all digital on the console would be a greater benefit to Sony's bottom line than a check they get back from BDA for anything they sell via the PS line.
There is a lot of IP used in the Blu-Ray from companies not part of the association. In fact, even though Microsoft is not part of the association's board they receive an occasional check for sev...
Stop acting as gamers are this collective group of thinkers. We all don't follow the same path. Some gamers (a fast-growing group) are more than ready for a device without physical media. As noted by the many times people comment they are already buying everything digitally one can see that for these gamers the need for any physical media is probably, in most cases, a non-existent need. To many of those digital buyers, the disc drive is a waste, just gathering dust. And yes because g...
Might be a good option in a couple of years for sure. A SKU with a diskless option and definitely not as the exclusive console design. I personally buy all digital now but, I still use the drive for other things (mainly because the quality of streaming movies sucks. ) and I do have friends that come over with discs on an occasion or inserting an old CD. I just like the drive around and would prioritize purchasing any next console with a disc player over a device that does not have one.

@princejb134
They own the rights to movies not for other media. EG. They can't just make a Spider-man universe game without negotiating with Marvel like any other company would for the rights to use the character. In fact, Sony actually can no longer make animated Spider-Man TV shows that they once could do. They relinquished those rights back to Marvel in 2007. This exclusive game was a result of Disney/Marvel and Sony negotiation. Their recent development package with Disn...
Please... Just a minute ago I defended PS from a silly Xbox fanboy argument of how Microsoft could just buyout Sony. Now I have to defend Xbox from your silly little PS fanboy collective mindset. Microsoft is not worried about anything of the sort. But, your argument about Microsoft becoming a cloud-based service is even more relevant to Sony's goals. As exemplified by who they have just placed as CEO of SIE and the differences both companies have done with GAAS up to this point. You rig...
Please... you call PS fanboys funny and you make some Xbox fanboy argument that because Microsoft is cash rich and the company itself easily dwarfs Sony that it can buy up Sony. Silly argument. Sounds like elementary school kid logic; "my dad can beat-up your dad" argument. Yeah, we get it Microsoft has 160 billion in the bank to spend. Well, they better spend some money on some first party studios.
By the way, you also got your facts wrong. I for one be very...
Wait are you deflecting? Did you ask that same question after the first three years of ports and remasters on the PS4? Are you saying that the Switch's first year was like the PS4 first year and just made up of mainly ports, reboots, and redos of PS3 games for that year? There definitely was a lack of real PS4 exclusives with the consoles first several years. However, the first year of the Switch actually did contain more than just games ports, redos reboots but, also a great collection...
