Music makes some reasonable scratch for Sony But, Sony Pictures (Columbia) has been a black hole sucking all that money made elsewhere (PS and Insurance) away into oblivion. Last year they even took a 1 billion write off from the division. This last quarter was the first time in 4+ years that film/tv actually was not solely in the deep red. Unfortunately, they just fired three of Sony Pictures presidents in February of this year. That is not a good sign for the immediate future of the studi...
Vavle is worst than anybody. You talk about supporting and that is true they support a couple games they made almost a decade ago. But, they have done nothing but, update them. New games are new games, updates are not new games. Most game developers at Valve have long left the fold because they have not had the opportunity to actually create games. Seriously, you mention Microsoft but the reason Bungie wanted to leave them is because they didn't want to just build Halo games. How do...
"Admin note: If you have no interest in Labo, please don't force yourself to comment. We're getting way too much into the ridiculing and trolling. The success of an item will be based on the consumer response via purchases, not anyone's personal opinion. "
Hypersensitive admin much! Please, a person should have a right to comment negatively, just as much as a person has a right to comment positively about Labo. Neither can be based on purchases at thi...
Completely subjective. For the current base console for this generation, it is definitely one of the top contenders. Although, I personally find UC4 is overall better looking game for consoles. As for best looking game of all time. Not quite. Considering the graphics level of other games (especially PC based) it would be wrong to say this. Is it gorgeous? Yes! But, the very nature of the hardware limitations (PS4 and Pro) the game has to support the developers still had to cut corners th...
Actually just the opposite. First they never ever had a blank check. Just the opposite. Gaming at Microsoft was always kept at arm's length because it was under the Windows division that prioritized Windows support not gaming or Xbox support. No longer. Nadella has increased both the support of Phil and the budget for Xbox by quite a bit. With Phil being moved to VP and now part of Nadella's inner circle of advisors the gaming division no longer has to go through other parties to ...
@DarkVoyager
Not being a fan of something does not mean not having to do it. A kid may not like doing homework but doing is part of going to school process and can make most more successful students. To that point marketing agreements are not something Phil likes and finds them distracting however if your main competitor is doing it and grabbing up all the third party marketing rights, like Sony has done these last few years, then yes you can be like Phil and not like the behavior b...
It is not about the screen, it would be how they do it. For example, Microsoft itself has several patents on multiple screen devices going back to the 90's. They have made several in the last year (in lieu their rumored Always Connected devices). But, each time it is not about the dual screen layout itself. Because you are right it is not like a unique idea onto itself. But patents like these protect a very small part of a multiple screen implementation. They probably have several as pa...
No, they get to laugh now But, it is definitely not the last laugh. The law gets the last laugh. Many of these crackers/pirates will get caught and like many tossed in jail crying like little bitches that they are. It happens all the time. Just a few months ago a group was taken down and each person they caught spilled the beans on several other members all while they pissed in their pants as they saw their futures gone. Now some will spend time in jail. Others, pay large fines. Almost ev...
@bow2yoda
Wouldn't he be more like the Hillary of gaming? Doing everything from machine setup at home and having us trust the results because her (I mean his) friends and cohorts said it was all on the up and up. Of course, all his scores have been deleted with bleachbit so will never no. And of course, he never goes away like Hillary, hovering around trying to relevant, blaming all his issues on conspiracies, never himself.
That arrogant type "we are the champions" talk always reminds me of how prior to 2007 Microsoft CE Mobile OS dominated the cellular market. It was like 70+% of all non-feature phones worldwide used it. Microsoft took their industry leading role for granted as the rest of the industry swooped in and left them in the dust. They didn't adjust. They didn't take a role at the table, instead kept to themselves and lost their dominant position. All within several years time. Poi...
@rainslacker
Do you actually believe Sony won't remember this next time this site wants a review copy? No matter how they got the game this time PS Turkey will be very wary of supporting them or giving the special treatment (E.g. interviews, answer questions, software, hardware,etc..) going forward. Believe me, I had a similar experience. I use to work for a fairly large online site that did something similar with respect to Apple. That company still gets an obvious cold should...
Exactly! No problem with the randomness of a loot box content as long as you are not laying down hard cash. But, the fact you nowadays are paying only makes the modern take on loot boxes onerous experience. Plus, games are making the normal ability to get any item much too long. That special outfit you could buy at level 10 (12 hours in) now is only available by luck at a paid loot box or if you spend 50+ hours you may get the item by happenstance. Let people...
Sony is becoming a company that gives you fewer choices and forces to use their services instead. That is almost exactly a definition of greed. EA Access says "Hi". BC meet PSNow the pay to play service.
@FGHFGHFGH
"microtransactions come in i guess. It's even named after them "
Apparently, Microsoft also invented the microscope and the microwave. Microsoft engineers created the term micron. Microbrew was copyrighted by Microsoft in 1975 as well. You can look it up :) Every time you buy a microbrew they get a penny from the company.
Unfortunately, nobody wants to name something after Sony. The closest entry from word origins wiki...
@letsa_go
"thanks to microsoft, we have to pay for something that should be free."
Yeah, that is Hillary speak for not taking responsibility for their own actions. It somebody else's fault that Sony is doing it. Was Sony under duress? Sony is a big boy and can make big decisions. You seem to be from that school thought: "a friend jumped off a bridge so I have to as well". Nah... Nobody forced Sony to charge other than the knowledge that they could ...
Dream on... It will not be a Navi based system. Vega is quite capable of handling 12TFLOPS. AMD has already started the shrinking that GPU for an APU. The 2400g is pretty weak APU right now (1.75TFLOPS) but that is the point it takes quite a while for them to get the APU heat/power consumption in line while raising the GPU/CPU power. A 2020 time frame for a Navi based APU will not allow time engineers to do that and cuts in AMDS ability to capitalize on the much more lucrative high-end gra...
That phone analogy of how phones don't have crossplay is awful. Mainly because it is so wrong. All phones allow for crossplay (cross-system interaction). I don't know what hardware has to do with anything. No one is saying the devices have to be the same or the UI the same. Sharing (cross-play) your phone experience is quite accepted practice. Otherwise, you would not be able to call friends, text/message friends, Skype friends, play Word with Friends, etc... all the while everyon...
But, @xenz made it clear that it not costing money was the only acceptable loot box. His form of loot boxes is no different than rewards that have existed in games since the beginning of gaming. Heck Ultima (yes that 80's game) had real loot boxes called treasures chests with the random gear you received for doing something. That is what he is saying is acceptable loot box.
I personally find the pay for the randomness of loot boxes wrong. The randomness bothers me bec...
@ImGumbyDammit
Man, I need to learn to write English. "you obviously know do understand how machines". WTF? I apologize for my incoherent rambling. I give myself an "F". Where is my red pen? Of course, I was writing in a new programming language called Idiot++. Hopefully, most of you understood I meant: "you obviously do not understand how machines are engineered".
