Not likely going to happen. Mainly because they are already squeezing their revenue on the PS4. Sony has had two quarters where hardware revenue has dropped 50% from year to year. Their sales are fine (a slight drop from previous years but that happens in the fourth year) So dropping the price will only squeeze profits more. If the device is selling at an acceptable pace dropping will only strain revenue even more so. There may be strategic temporary drops but, I doubt we will see anything ...
Not really. Microsoft has had several streaming services in development over the years. But both times they came to their senses and realized that infrastructure of the internet was not ready for game streaming for most people. Kodera developed PSNow from Galaki and convinced Sony higher ups that it was a good time to run with streaming. As you can see by the awesome success of PSNow he was right (/sarcasm off).
More importantly, Microsoft plans for gaming streaming are s...
Who is dying? No PlayStation is doing exceptional. Xbox is relatively at the same point they were this time last generation (35-40 million boxes) Only in PSfanboy mind doing they think that Xbox is dying. Xbox made close a billion in profits for Microsoft last year. They are making money. Nintendo (the whole company mind you 3DS+Switch+ everything else) made only 1.34 billion in profits. Sony's SIE made about 1.64 billion. True these numbers (no matter who of the three you look at) ...
Sea of Solitude looks interesting. Still not sure what is all about. But, I do appreciate EA giving the opportunity for smaller developers to get their out there.
Mobile is big. It makes a lot of money. EA just wants as much as that money as possible. There is nothing wrong with showing a game or two on mobile at a press conference to get the word out. Especially one based on a key EA IP. It actually looked fun. I was more interested in C&Q mobile game then watching either FIFA 19 or Madden 19 announcements. I do wish there was more on Anthem. But, since the kept referring to the Xbox conference I suspect we will see a lot more detail at the ...
Two different things. Worst you have seen does not equate to the hyperbole of worst press conference of all time. An absolute statement of exaggeration as fact. I repeat the article said worst press conference of all time - even though the author goes out of his way to say it isn't hyperbole, it is actually the purest form of what hyperbole is.
Why? Because EA has a mobile game based on C&Q that actually looked fairly fun? Why not take advantage of the IP on mobile? Uncharted has a mobile game (Fortune Hunter), does that mean Sony has no respect for Uncharted and should abandon all future endeavors of the IP at that point? Mobile is a thing. A lot of people play games on their phones (heck Switch is all about mobile - my friends keep telling me that). Sony even set up a new game studio (FowardWorks) exclusively for mobile....
We haven't seen Crackdown in a year. That is plenty of time to fix some of the complaints (which were not really about gameplay but the graphics). Days Gone another delayed game has some recent gameplay impressions by GameSpot and Eurogamer that were not that flattering. So, we will see who makes fixes and who doesn't.
If we are going to compare it to Netflix (which really isn't a fair comparison because the only thing similar is it is a subscription-based system, PSNow is more like Netflix than GP) but, looking at Netflix it is made up about 90% of things I would consider meh or things that I have played or bought previously. Especially Netflix recently it has a lot of garbage. GP is great for new owners or people with a small ownership of games (I have two friends that have bought it for that reason ...
@GrubsterBeater "People like you will never get it, apparently... " Oh, please tell us oh wise one. What an arrogant putz. First. Xbox made around a billion in profit for Microsft last year. Sure, not cloud money or Office mulah. But, it is a growing biz. A profit is still a profit and anything around a billion is a lot of money (even for a company that pulls in more profits yearly then the market cap of Sony). Satya wants more of that 100+ billion and growing gaming industry an...
I think freefall is a bad word in this case. It did take heavy dive recently. I think the problem is not the Switch sale numbers or even the recent dry spell for Nintendo's own IP on the device but. the need of future services related to Switch contributing to revenue. Investors are looking farther downline and worried that Nintendos online service is looking like an anemic option. This is a problem because there is a growing need to enhance revenue stream by these services (just ask Xbox...
@firelogic Marvel did not approach Sony to make a game and Sony definitely doesn't own the rights Spider-Man outside of film (and even that usage has been weakened with Spider-Man now part of the MCU). What happened as part of the negotiation of bringing Spider-Man back into the MCU Marvel gave Sony an option to pick a character to use (very limited and does not give exclusive rights for that character e.g the character could appear from another source in another multi-plat game later ...
No, no transactions form Microsoft. But apparently from what I hear Sony is using the PSNow infrastructure to stream their conference. So basically it will be unwatchable. You could have watched it on Twitch or any of a variety of ways but, Sony has decided it knows what is best for you and doesn't think you should have options.
"I think the curse really comes from Hollywoods stupidity to be honest, they never listen to what people want."
Who are these people? Peoples (fans of comics, games, etc..) opinion on anything related to movie adaptions is just a far varied as anything else in life. What you and others think as a great plot move or actors for a character may be the opposite of myself and others and vice versa and there often many different camps. In f...
Well, they are public traded company and as the head of the company, he has particular knowledge of current plans. If he is making a false public statement it can affect investment and doing that knowingly is against the law. He made a broad definitive and absolute statement. Those that don't have insider knowledge (which again is illegal to trade on that knowledge), have to rely on such statements and other trends to determine their actions in investing. That is why statements like th...
@SlapHappyJesus First learn what a monopoly is. Microsoft is far from a monopoly of anything. Second, I just showed that both Sony and Microsoft made as much money just off their gaming services: Plus and Live Gold then Nintendo made off of Switch. That is just services. And you are right the Nintendo Switch is selling quite well. But, that does not translate into a stronger financial entity (even if you were just talking about gaming). The reason is they have no real financial strength to...
WTF? What are you smoking? Seriously you believe Nintendo is the most financially strong entity of what three? Obviously, you are not talking about Microsoft right? Microsoft makes more in profits in a year than the current market cap of Nintendo itself. Their Xbox maybe not as strong a seller it is still quite profitable for Microsoft (maybe not cloud or Office numbers but a billion plus and growing contributor). That is Nintendos problem in the first place they are a one-trick pony. Like M...
Compared to other game streaming services (like Nvidia) PSNow blows chunks. There are plenty of people with great connections that experienced lag for unknown reasons. i played it at a friends house it worked fine on a 50mbs connection. I tried playing it at my house (Google Fiber about 920mbs) and it had issues. And service plays games at only 720p max, 30fps max, downgraded graphics, artifacts that don't exist in the original games. Even with 650 games, it is still limited to games t...
You are simply spewing something you have no clue about. You read an article somewhere and keep talking about things that have not even come close to happening. But, you keep posting pure conjecture on your part. You really have no idea of what you are talking about (and putting LOL - like you get it and no one else understands - at the end doesn't make what you said any truer) None of this points to anything other than Microsoft, like Amazon, has an investment in the cloud. PAAS is a ...
Please stop with the BS. There were 15,000 amputees from WWII. Not a single one went back to the field after it happened. Almost every single one left the military and that very small group that did not be given a desk assignment or non-combative role. The prosthetics provided by the military to soldiers were not up to the same stuff as those provided to civilians and definitely nothing like in this game portrays. In fact, there was a large march in 1945, after the war ended, by military a...
